Hi Chiletrek,

Of course you can use it, I'll send you the object files for it if you like.

Hello:
Nothing says "accurate" than having the original model, right? ... it should allow me to take a closer look at the deflector dish .

Hi Chiletrek,

I'll organize all the files for the Oracle and then have to email them to you.
Just send me a note with an email to send the files to.

Hello:
I have a question (oh noes! ): Does it have a shuttlebay? Because I see none.

Kodai-Okuda In reply to Chiletrek [2018-11-21 06:47:00 +0000 UTC]

Hi ChileTrek,

The shuttlebays are in the saucer section.
They are the "1" and "2" in this image, and/or the square inset depressions port and starboard.
I actually measured the size of the Galileo 7 shuttle and it fits (with 1 meter on each side, top, bottom, port, starboard) just fine.

Hi Chiletrek,

Yes, I almost used that idea, but realized that having to land at that angle of the saucer would not really be practical for a spaceship.  The side doors make more sense.

Kodai-Okuda In reply to Chiletrek [2018-11-22 08:47:19 +0000 UTC]

Hi Chiletrek,

I used the side shuttle bays because they were just as difficult as trying to map a top or bottom saucer door.

Chiletrek In reply to Kodai-Okuda [2018-11-22 20:06:51 +0000 UTC]

Hello:
Well, all normal shuttlebays are horizontal. So there is that option unless I can come-up with something different for my Trek-verse.

Hello:
 Yuppies! .

But, truth to be told, with many outposts available, I don't think Starfleet ships need to build their own shuttles .

Hello:
Would this ship work in small groups? Maybe with a Pathfinder class as a leading vessel?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kodai-Okuda In reply to Chiletrek [2018-11-24 02:06:35 +0000 UTC]

Hi Chiletrek,

It depends on the mission.

Normally these ships work alone, however, in hostile space they might be apart of a small task for of 1 to 3 additional ships.

Anything from a frigate to two destroyers or three cutters might be with the Oracle depending on how hostile the area of space the Oracle is patrolling.
It would not normally have a Pathfinder with it unless the Oracle was part of a sweep of a wide area of space that was looking for cloaked ships.

That is a very nice design! It makes sense for Starfleet to have specialized scouts but I've never seen a really good-looking alternative, so your ship clearly is refreshing .

Kodai-Okuda In reply to JeanLucCaptain [2018-05-22 03:45:26 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.
They take a lot of time to design in terms of concept.
The next federation one is a Cloaking-capable, Section 31, variant of the Miranda/Avenger frigate.
However, I am also doing a few more Romulan ships.
My plan is to have a Star Trek Online/FASA line up of ships for the 23rd Century, so around five tiers of ships (Classes 1, through 10), with three ships in each tier (one for Science, one for Military, and one for Exploration).
Gonna take some time.

ILLUMINATI!!!!!!

Seriously, nice, i've been trying to figure out a way to work one of those aireal radar dish style platforms onto a ship without it looking derpy. This, this looks nice <3

Kodai-Okuda In reply to WraithKate [2018-05-08 18:29:49 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

I was looking for some kind of symbol for a system that can see a long way and detect things (cloaked ships, or at least the ion-emissions of their engines).  I was at a gas station and pulled money and saw the "all seeing eye" on the dollar bill and thought that would be perfect.

I looked at many US Navy ships and they all use that "golf ball" RADAR style system.
That looked terrible in the raw (no textures) so I went with the USAF's Early Warning and Detection aircraft style.

WraithKate In reply to Kodai-Okuda [2018-05-08 23:26:24 +0000 UTC]

Yah, the golf ball doesn't work to well on most federation style ships... as well as some other designs. I think the USAF's early warning and detection was the right choice here, it kinda fits with the other "pods" and modules that have appeared on various designs in the same configuration. I always have trouble with it though because I keep making the disk the wrong size. Too big and it looks like another hull, to small and it looks silly.

Took me a week to get it right and trying to get the Saucer-to-dish ratio of the Phoenix from Star Trek the Next Generation.

This image from "The Trek Collective" helped get the size-ratio for me.

You are welcome.

I missed it until an episode of ST:TNG was playing on BBC America and it popped into my head.  I googled for Miranda-style Galaxy and found the Nebula class at Memory Alpha.
This was the initial image I found and I almost used the "delta" style dish, but thought I'd better save that for the 24th century style ships I plan on doing.

Very nice!  So does it disable cloaks of just detects cloaks?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kodai-Okuda In reply to AngelisGoodwen [2018-05-08 18:33:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

It only detects the ion-emissions of the impulse engines, and the neutrinos of the reactors of cloaked ships.  The sensor has a wide variety of different detection tools inside it (which is why it is so big) ranging from sensors that can detect normal (non-cloaked ships) at warp, to stellar phenomena like magnetar stars, pulsars, novas, etc.

So it just an all around sensor ship, that can focus in on cloaked ship.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kodai-Okuda In reply to AngelisGoodwen [2018-05-08 20:03:10 +0000 UTC]

Basically, that was my idea, yes.
It can detect the presence of neutrinos and ionized gas particles and if their source of emission is moving at sublight speeds (fractions of the speed of light), which would indicate a possible cloaked vessel.
The sensor cannot detect the type of ship, or even if it is actually a ship, but a trained operator (just like in real-life with RADAR) can make an educated guess.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelisGoodwen In reply to Kodai-Okuda [2018-05-08 22:54:12 +0000 UTC]

That's what I thought, it can only detect a potential cloaked ship.

Very nice!
