Description
The Lone Wanderer
A lone Bull Elk captured in Rocky Mountain National park under Longs Peak at Sunrise. I think this image portrays the loneliness often found when Autumn starts to turn to Winter, and I hope I was able to portray that well.

Beautiful golden light, like the wonderfully lonely light that dawns on sycamores of the Owens Valley beneath Mt. Whitney.
I read that the last of the stag-elk died some 11,000 years ago; the last one standing might have looked a bit like this fellow.
Wikipedia: "The stag-moose or elk (scientific name Cervalces scotti) is an extinct deer slightly larger than the modern moose. Its name, stag-moose, refers to the fact that it looked much like a cross between an elk and a moose."
