wow, i admire these images of yours. Iยดm joining the swedish army for my military duty in a year, i hope iยดll have time to take photos like this too. Are you doing your militaryduty as a "cameraman" (we have like 3 places of those each year in the swedish army, or are you just a conscript with the camera in your rucksack? how do you keep it from breaking? ^^ //greatings from stockholm

this is such an emotional photo, it's almost painful to look at it. But still amazing.

How sad to get hurt in training. I recall my military days well and I'm glad I never got hurt. Well, not physically anyway.
Whoever that solider is, I hope he survived and can now look back and feel stronger for his experiences.
It's not easy being a solider, but thank goodness he was willing to do the job.

Currently I study journalism and russian language in Oslo, Norway. At the time this picture was taken, I was serving in the Norwegian Army as some sort of "journalist"/photographer/general public relations-person.

I think this photo is SO interesting because how many of these kinds of photos do we see from say...WWII or something way in our distant past? We know they are real, and we know they are powerful, but always...(to me) they seem so detached because I was never there...hell, my PARENTS werent even around for it.
To see this....the same idea of a photograph of a noble soldier being wounded...and yet its during MY generation....somehow hits just a LITTLE closer to home.
It very well deserves the DD.

This photo makes me even more nervous about my brother going to war. He had one of his friends die on him in an accident during training. I'm going to fav this photo. It shows that soldiers are anything but faceless, emotionless killers. They are people. And people feel pain.

dear god.. and they just dragged him through the snow? I guess there's less jostling than if they tried to lift him. That's a really amazing shot.

I agree he wouldn't notice the snow so much, but it was the dragging point I was making mostly.

kimo9909 In reply to AntarcticDreamer [2007-11-04 02:50:54 +0000 UTC]
I got your point about that but with the pain I'd say that he wouldn't notice anything because he is probably going into shock as well.

AntarcticDreamer In reply to kimo9909 [2007-11-05 19:26:06 +0000 UTC]
The dragging was sort of a personal objection more than anything else, i guess. It's just horrible to see another person in a situation like that, even if they dodn't notice. It just looks like they're treating him so impersonaly.
