I wanted to experiment with different styles while I was away, one of which was the traditional Disney look you might see in movies like Beauty and the Beast or Alladin.I was watching The Little Mermaid and the part where Ariel sits on the rock singing the reprisal to "Part of your world" was the real motivation behind drawing this one. When she was staring at Eric from afar, that was a special moment I had to capture.
"Look Sebastian. . .Isn't he beautiful?"

Also tried some new rendering techniques to color. I wanted to do a side by side comparison or color and pencils because sometimes I think my pencil work is better than my coloring.

This is semi-OT, but am I the only one who noticed that Tarzan, Naveen and Flynn Rider all have kinda Edge-shaped faces? You could TOTALLY do moar Cal-Arts/Disney-style fanfart based on just that fact!

I had to look up who Naveen and Flynn Rider were, Because I haven't seen their movies yet! LMAO. I know who they are now.
And yes you are right, they do have edge shaped faces! I have to finish up my "Sailor Wrestlers" series before I start on anything else tho. I've been telling people I need to upload my backlog of stuff in my sketchpads.

Yeah, I found out Cal-Arts is kinda used as a blanket term for any Disney-esque drawing/animation style...I sure learned a lot from lurking on John K.'s blog all these years!

I'm surprised you didn't know who he was (I thought Ren and Stimpy was fairly well-known...but then again I AM a massive animation/cartoonan' nerd ).
And yeah, I guess the Spumco house-style could be termed as "alternative".
