It's scary while it's happening, of course, but there's that small part of me that's detached as something happens like that, and it always reminds me that this'll only hurt for a little while...
I actually hate it worse when I survive, because then I have to deal with the healing process... And that particular would had me bedridden for weeks. Alfred was only a child, we were going on a pointless sail just so he could have the experience... Some of my last pirating days... We got attacked by some rival pirates, and as I was protecting him a man ran me through and I... Decapitated him. Without thinking about Alfred seeing...
