Description I wanna share this tip with you. Main thing here is turned off "spacing". it works with cs5 and cs6 (and i don't know how about other versions).
I use this smudge brush in other ways too - to make borders softer, to blur and so on. Use various pen pressure, stroke speed and stroke length.
- Brush used here is STANDARD soft brush. And tablet is Wacom
- Strength of smudge tool can be 20-70% (it depends on your wacom's pressure settings), i usually use 50%.
- Don't forget to turn OFF "spacing" before crying "it doesn't work!"
Отключите спэйсинг, христомбогоммолю _)

*updates:
icekatze said: I can confirm that this works with Photoshop 7.0 (circa 2002) so I suspect that it will work with any of the CS Photoshop programs. (The only difference is that the "transfer" tab is called the "other dynamics" tab in 7.0, but it does the same thing.)

Thanks a million Just got my Wacom and can't wait to use it!    I've got some questions though!   I'm using PS 10 Elements.  CS5  And I can't find all that brush preset settings.  There is no brush settings to be found in my Windows.  Here is screen shots of all my brush settings : Brush not at windows
Brush Settings 1  ,Brush
Do you have any suggestions?  I was so disappointed not to be able to set those settings!    Pressing F5 shows nothing.  I've also have PS 12 Elements but its the same as PS 10.

This might be a stupid question and I don't even know if it actually has anything to do with blurring, but I've noticed that most artworks [like yours] have this red/magenta and light blue/cyan light on the edges of surfaces.
Is that from a brush or filter or what?
Just wanting to know.

kir-tat In reply to Kenilem [2014-04-10 05:52:31 +0000 UTC]

filtr - lens correction - custom (effect is rising to the corners)
or play with channels (more difficult, result is equable on whole image)

kir-tat In reply to Annet-CAT [2014-04-02 11:29:30 +0000 UTC]

не надо их перепробовать, надо сделать в точности такие же. только там, где у меня 70, лучше все-таки сделать 50%. а дальше - ловкость рук и магия вакома. нежным стремительным движением очень стремительным. возможно, не с первого раза, но получится.

Thanks for the tip! That being said I've discovered that on my photoshop version (CS5) you get better result by setting the strenght of smudge tool to low values (around 20%). If not you will probably get the classic smudge effect.

kir-tat In reply to yinetyang [2014-03-29 18:01:08 +0000 UTC]

i think it depends on your personal wacom's pressure settings. since my settings isn't default, maybe you're right

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yinetyang In reply to kir-tat [2014-03-31 07:07:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, mine is not default either. Anyway, I thought it worth mentionning so everybody can experiment. You've gave me some food for thoughts with this tip. I was a little with the weakness of photoshop's brushes handling but maybe I can work around to get my desired result by fiddling with the settings.

I cant seem to achieve effect number 5...and I am not sure if its because of the settings, my photoshop or how I try to do it...

kir-tat In reply to Sakuyamon [2014-03-27 10:11:29 +0000 UTC]

i hope you doing it with the tablet and your tablet is wacom. make a fast soft stroke. don't press very hard. be fast.

Sakuyamon In reply to kir-tat [2014-03-27 10:57:08 +0000 UTC]

Yea I got a wacom tablet that I use and I try to use it as light and fast as I can, still just smudges like normal.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kir-tat In reply to Natsuki-3 [2014-03-27 10:16:12 +0000 UTC]

ну это для мелких частей. если весь передний план надо заблюрить - то проще уже фильтром каким-нить вроде радиального или ленс блюра
