Description I can't remember if I ever posted this, or if it was deleted or something, but I just couldn't find this in my gallery and needed to repost it from my old Halloween Reviews from about a year or two ago. So, yeah you guys are getting two reviews tonight. I'd just like to add a couple addendums to this: 1) there's no reason they couldn't just have Debbie Ryan, Cameron Boyce, etc. just guest starring as, like, some obscure teenage heroes or something for an episode and having them play their characters from Jessie is stupid, makes no sense, and raises god knows how many plotholes. 2) Technically, Spectacular Spider-Man wasn't cancelled. When Disney bought Marvel, the rights to Spectacular Spider-Man were lost in the fray and the project just fell apart before it could see a conclusion to the season (let alone the series; willing to bet they would've kept it going for a little while though had they kept the rights).

Sometimes I wonder why this episode exist.

Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel was good because it did a good job combining the humor of Phineas and Ferb with the comic book style and action to the Marvel heroes.

But this......I have no clue why this episode exists in the first place. It had no reason to be made at all.

Exactly; this was made JUST because Disney bought Marvel and they wanted to brag about it.

truly sucks how SSM is lost in limbo because of Sony and Disney's petty squabbles. and what do we have to replace SSM and EMH? Glorified movie advertisements disguised as TV shows

I know right; I haven’t seen much of Ultimate Avengers but it doesn’t look that great anyway.

To me, I prefer this crossover over TTG v PPG.
Though I have to agree that the latter is creative, while this crossover slaps anything for some action and fanservice that amounts to nothing.

Like, Jack o' Lantern was a petty attempt to introduce what could possible be an awesome Marvel villain.

This episode feels like someone accidentally mixed their niece’s fanfic in with the scripts and just tried to roll with it so he wouldn’t get fired. The PPG v. TTG crossover was dumb but they made some attempt (the gags with Robin and the narrator were funny: “And so, Robin dramatically exited the room as the others look on with concern for his well-being.”) and there was some logic behind it. Nobody wanted this.

Proof how the TTG crossover is better and make some comparison, please.

So I'd have to know more about Jessie in order to understand how this episode is really horrible?

Not particularly; here's what you need to know: Jessie is a piss-poor knock off of The Nanny (Jessie is Fran, Emma is Maggie, Luke is Brighton, Zuri is Grace...by way of Quvenzhané Wallis from Annie 2014, Breton is fat Niles but less funny, and they threw in Ravi just to try and throw people off the trail), nobody can act, and they only speak in sitcom "pause for laughter" lines and overused movie quotes.

At least the animation was decent

Love Hina could be animated by Miyazaki himself but that wouldn't fix the terrible characters and shitty writing. To prove my point look up the film X and you'll understand that good animation and bad storytelling mix about as well as jalapeno donuts.

Hey, the writer and director at least tried with this crossover; sure, the plot is cliche, but the animation is good for the most part. And this isn't the 1st time we've seen a Marvel hero/heroine team up with a series you'd least expect them to team up with: remember Punisher with Archie?

And at least this crossover was a one-time deal, unlike Lilo & Stitch: The Series crossing over American Jake Long, Kim Possible, Recess and The Proud Family during that spin-off's run. And those crossovers were much worse than the crossover you're complaining about right now.

And get over that Spectacular Spider-Man and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (especially since we have Avengers Assemble) are cancelled, for your own sake. I like those shows too, but I wouldn't call them the best by talking s*** about USM or the other Marvel shows that Disney XD currently airs.

1) Good Animation doesn't fix bad storytelling; it didn't work for Home on the Range, it didn't work for Sword Art Online, and it sure as shit ain't gonna fly here if that's ALL you're coming at me with. 1.5) trying and failing is still failing, no matter how much effort you put into this, and I doubt there was ANYONE who wanted this to happen. More likely, if they would've played it up as a joke or (taking my own suggestion) just had them playing some random teenage superheroes/original characters for just one episode, I probably would've ignored it altogether. 2) The Punisher Meets Archie at least understood how stupid the idea was and never tried to take itself too seriously, but this plays it totally straight. 3) Most of the Lilo & Stitch crossovers, while hokey and lame, weren't that terrible and had a few moments I could say were enjoyable (the Recess and Proud Family crossovers were pretty good, I thought; the Kim Possible crossover was kinda pointless but it didn't feel like a total waste). 4) I'm not saying that "Spectacular Spider-Man and Avengers: EMH were cancelled! Now everything sucks." (though, yeah, Spider-Man 2017 is a rancid dumpster fire that pales in comparison to just about anything else) Ultimate Spider-Man STARTED good; sure, it did quickly devolve into a show about the greater Marvel Universe (guest starring Spider-Man), but it did help lead to the Guardians of the Galaxy getting their own series which is great. You really wanna open the floodgates on this one? Every single series in the MAU looks EXACTLY THE SAME!!! 5) I'm not using this as a platform to bitch about USM; it did some great stuff like the Spider-verse arc, and some dumb stuff (like, I hated Doc Ock's redesign and the Goblin looking too bulky), but this is just about bitching about a TERRIBLE, pointless episode that has NOTHING to do with anything other than a cheap ratings trap and fanfic bait...which, thankfully, no one was biting on. Bottom line: while I'm indifferent to the rest of Ultimate Spider-Man, simply because I know they can do far better but also far worse, this episode is garbage, period. 1) It's just that you're complaining about something that doesn't need to be complained about.
1.5) I didn't want it to happen any more than you do, but I sucked it up and watched it. And was surprised, honestly.
2) So did this crossover when it came to playing it straight.
3) The L&S crossovers (like them with KP and ADJL) with Recess and Proud Family weren't that good, you're crazy if you think they're that good.
4) Spidey 2017 isn't what you call a "rancid dumpster fire". Granted, it's just getting started and avoided one mistake that USM made when it was first being aired since it's 1st season: hiring Digital EMation Inc.
5) They managed to fix Ock's look with those nanite-like things at the end of the USM and I didn't mind Green Goblin being bulked up.

And okay. Overall, I respect your opinions on the episode.

I'm glad we can come to this understanding; I'm not expecting people to agree with me, but I'm expecting civility and respectful acknowledgement of my side of the argument (that has nothing to do with you specifically, just in general because none of us who've been on dA longer than a year haven't dealt with that one asshole who just wants to tear everything apart that even slightly diverges from HIS opinion alone *cough*Chris-chan*cough*disneyphillip*cough**cough*). Yes, the Lilo & Stitch crossovers were pretty cringey, but I was saying the ones with Recess & the Proud Family were good BY COMPARISON, and graded on a curve against the other crossovers rather than the overall series itself. Lastly, I feel like I should be a bit more clear with these Rant/Rave cards because it seems like it's assumed that they automatically fall into the 1/5 or 5/5 score respectively rather than being an umbrella term for everything from not very good to worst thing ever made (Raves cover the opposite end of the spectrum; hence the need for Gold/Burnt Cards to show where the best of the best and worst of the worst lie).

Right, looking at Chris, right now.

And again, I respect your views on the crossovers of L&S with Recess & the Proud Family.

And lastly, thanks for the clarification on the Rant/Rave cards.

Even for a show with a wackier tone like Ultimate Spider-Man, this is a stupid idea for a crossover. This reminds me of the crossover between Teen Titans Go and Powerpuff Girls 2016 (TTG v PPG), except the former wasn't advertised as much as the latter.

At least the PPG vs. TTG crossover KNEW the idea was stupid and did something with it; honestly, I'm kinda surprised how they did make it legitimately funny by having the girls much more in-character with their original personalities. Granted, both shows still suck and I'm wondering why they're even still bothering to keep PPG '16 afloat. It's like trying to stop the Hindenburg from crashing by just wrapping it in gauze.
