They’d been having a bit of a tough time struggling with family boundaries and dealing with increasingly invasive interviews, but that didn’t stop Cheddar Changa from enjoying their leisure time privately. Despite everything, they could keep their professional, family, and personal lives separate, so each day they could put whatever was going on at work away and enjoy some time alone, at least for a little while.

Today Cheddar did what they always did and lounged on their couch watching some dramatic TV show. One would be surprised they enjoyed angsty television programs as a way to unwind when their life was already so busy to the point of near overwhelm at times, but Cheddar didn’t see it that way.

The stresses of fictional characters took their mind off the stresses of their real life. After all, it’s different to observe conflict that isn’t real than to experience it.

But this time, Cheddar couldn’t quite take their mind off of what happened with their mom. A lot of mixed feelings were cycling through their psyche—part of them felt bad for making her feel bad but they were also still a bit upset with her.

If anything, they were more annoyed with the press and paparazzi who wouldn’t stop asking about it.

“Cheddar! Are you there?”

A voice called out, banging on the door as if their yelling wasn’t enough to announce their presence.

Hm, who’s this? Probably paparazzi. Oh fudge, I need better security.

They thought to themselves as they crept up to the door, quietly enough that whoever was outside hopefully wouldn’t hear them.

“SURPRISE!”

Before they could look out the peephole their door flung open so fast it almost hit them in the face.

Dang it! The one time I forget to lock the door!

There was not one pony at the door but a whole crowd, practically half the town of Ponyville, equipped with party supplies and lots of news cameras.

“Excuse me? What’s all this?”

Cheddar asked, starting to feel peeved that this was sprung on them so quickly.

“After hearing all the juice about the last episode of Party Preppers we’ve all been wondering about how our favorite morning show chefs have been doing!”

“A little birdie told us you were feeling especially down and needed to party!”

One of the ponies pointed back into the crowd and Cheddar saw her, their stepmother Skystar looking the proudest she’d ever been.

This was HER idea!

“No! Wait!”

Cheddar couldn’t stop the crowd from barging right into their house. They were already overwhelmed and having a party sprung on them was the last thing they needed. With all they’d been dealing with, they couldn’t take this anymore.

“GET OUT!”

They screamed, practically blind from all the cameras flashing in their face.

“I DON’T want this! I don’t want ANY of this! You all think I’M the one who needs to cheer up when YOU’RE the ones who won’t leave me the HELL alone!”

But the crowd didn’t stop, instead they clamored around then like they hadn’t heard a single word they said.

“But Cheddar-“

“NO!”

Cheddar Changa reared up on their back hooves and whinnied in rage. For a moment they didn’t care what the cameras saw, they were at their absolute limit.

“GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!”
