A new year, a new start. 2017 hadn't exactly been the best of years, what started out so promising ended up in the greatest disaster. One bad day after the other, it didn't seem to end, but 2018 had now arrived and according to Annette. It would all get better from now on.

And somehow, not even a week into this new year the bad karma already had seemed to turn indeed. Kaira had had some time to herself and think things through now that Annette had taken over most of the work of running the stable, reflecting on herself and the situations she had found herself in last year.

Nero wasn't going to stay and become her horse again, and even though it had made her so angry last week she has slowly accepted it by now, and the feeling of the rest returning in her head felt great. Yes, she had given up the fight over him since it was simply impossible to win. But the new year brought a new Kaira and accepting these things would be a first step in the right direction when it comes to becoming happier and at peace.

Then, of course there was the whole ordeal with the picture Sjoerd had posted online. Ever since that day she hadn't had the willpower to go to her trainings anymore and so, she took action for once. Calling Lisa over the phone to beg if it was okay if she switched to Annette as her trainer. Her former olympic trainer certainly had a lot to offer her, and luckily Lisa saw that too.

"She pittied me you know. " Kaira said with a slight sigh as she placed the blanket gently on Nero, the stallion still felt sweaty and warm from his spectacular ride. So spectacular even that they actually managed to place first over all the others, even her fellow team mates. A very nice and welcome surprise. Especially since it was both their debut in Grand Prix.

" Did she now ? " Annette answered her, following Kaira as they walked out of the stables back into the open air to return Nero to the trailer.
" It doesn't really matter... I am glad it maybe helped her let you take over my trainings. " Kaira smiled, sometimes luck came with the bad luck. This time it seemed to be the case.

She watched Annette fiddle a bit with the brush inside a tin can. Kaira's phone in the other. Slowly, a slight grin found it's way to her lips and Annette quickly took some pictures, having a good time on her own. But also, the phone clearly shaking as she tried and it seemed to frustrate her a little. She seemed in such a hurry to take that picture but didn't seem to manage with the shaky hands.

" Are you cold ? " Yes, winter had been mild so far, but still. She had been standing still fot quite a while and that could simply make you feel really cold as well. Kaira removed her coat and handed it over to Annette, who gladly accepted it and put it on to continue with the quest to take the perfect picture.

" I like you so much better this way, Lee. " Annette managed to say inbetween her intense photoshoot. Kaira simply thanked her with a smile, it sure felt better to do something good..Even something this simple.

"What on earth are you doing? " She asked curiously, turning her head into the direction of the subject of the pictures. The tall young man with his black mare made their way back to the warming up arena to cool her down a little more, walking besides his mare though. And that's why something wonderful was revealed.

A smile started to crack and eventhough she was still angry thank to seeing that ass, it was simply amusing to see him walk around with what appeared to be..some..Brown conviniently placed stain on his white breeches.

" Did you get a good picture ?? " she asked once they were further away.

Annette answered her with an enthusiastic nod and showed her the gallery. " Plenty to choose from ! "

It made Kaira grin, a spark appearing in her eyes which were hidden by the sunglasses. " Amazing..Now can you please explain HOW that happened ? " Truly, she learned some of her tricks from her. Eventhough she appeared as a holy saint, she really wasn't at times.

" I just..accidentally might have gotten some hoof fat on his saddle..The good, dark kind. " She chuckled as others were starting to point him out that it looked like he shat himself, making him yell and almost bolt out of the arena as he left his mare with the poor messenger.

" You made a shitstain. That's your revenge plan ? ".. Kaira chuckled softly as she rolled her eyes. " And they call me childish..That's so horribly bad and stupid..that...it's ..simply fuckin BRILLIANT you champ. " She gave her a hug, it was time to let him have a taste of his own medicine. Just like he did to her.

" Still want to kill him though.." She whispered before letting go.

" We are not gonna do that, we are the better persons here..You got your payback, it has been served my dear. Now it's just time to not pay attention and focus on yourself. "

Of course she was right, she usually was. But still, letting him get away rather easily wasn't her style, but since she was trying to change she agreed. The fact she won over him with Neeo today made it even better and easier to accept.

" Now, no need to listen to what he said..You can take off those glasses. And just do whatever you want to do with that pretty face of yours my dear. "
Sweet words, very sweet. But she just shook her head.

"I..do not agree with a whole lot but..I think he was right about one thing..So..I rather keep them on for a while, maybe they won't notice me like this." One can hope, right ? She sent a last smile her way before guiding Nero inside the trailer. Closing it before getting in her car to leave for home.

Today was already a very positive change, perhaps this year was indeed going to be better.
