his nickname is Tuna, because the author thought it was funny. which is why a lot of his stuff has a fish design, even a pair of boxers he owns, but his full name, Tsunayoshi, is a traditional samurai name, like his father (Iemitsu)

His name is Tsunayoshi and the kanjis have nothing to do with tuna fish. I guess you allready knew that but whatever, it's funny anyway XD
