Description
It's Loki! My version of him anyway. This piece isn't quite done... but I'm not going to be finishing it anytime soon. I need to add a snake and some bondage stuff and a bit more atmosphere.... someday I'm sure.Update: Added the hand holding the snake. The hand is Skadi's... she doesn't like Loki.

I'm not sure which part you wanted me to explain... LOL There's a lot more to this picture but I just never finished it.
"Then they took Loki's sons Vali and Nari, and having changed Vali into a wolf, he tore his brother Nari into pieces. Then the gods took his intestines and bound Loki with them to the three stones, and they changed the cord into bands of iron. Skadi then took a serpent and suspended it over Loki's head so that the venom drops from it on to his face. Siguna, Loki's wife, stands near him, and holds a dish receiving the venom as it falls, and when the dish is full she goes out and pours its contents away. While she is doing this, however, the venom falls on Loki, and causes him such intense pain that he writhes so that the earth is shaken as if by an earthquake."

Ah, that. Yeah. I figured he either wants to be like Thor or fit in more with his family so I made him blond. There is a dark haired version of him on my Society6 page. I think in the myths he's actually a redhead but I don't know that for sure. Anyway, just my version of him.

To add to the hair debate: I see him as blond, the myths call him a redhead, and he's a shapeshifter. Honestly, I doubt it matters all that much.

This is fantastic picture. I like your metaphor with snake's poison looking like a sperm. Sex-codes, which add duality in main sense. Perfect

I was reading about Loki online and it said he was bound underground by his son's entrails and a snake would drip its venom on him causing him great pain. There's more to the story but that's the part I drew... minus the entrails tying him down... gross! LOL

LOL Because I wanted him blonde. ^_~ Actually, I didn't know much about Norse version of him and I couldn't find any pictures (didn't want movie pics or comic pics) with his hair showing. I decided to draw him wanting to be more like Thor with the long blonde hair... also, it's a nicer contrast to the dark background. Believe me, I'm more out of the loop than you! LOL

This is awesome. As much as I love Hiddles Loki, (and damn do I love Hiddles Loki), I always get a little ecstatic when I find Loki art that's more specific to the god and the myth than the comics and films, probably because I was reading the myths long before I got into the comics and films. I love the way you did his face and his hair, and the dripping venom.

Thank you so much! ^_^ I had to research about him before I drew him. Had no idea about the stuff he did or why he was chained up (by his son's entrails, gross!) and the venom hitting him causing earthquakes! So fascinating! I intended to draw more from Norse mythology but as always I got distracted with life. LOL Maybe I should have another look and find someone else I want to draw.
