The December image from the 2007 Calendar, this digital painting is called "The Rat King."Possibly one of my best paintings to date The Rat King is obviously based on the famous ballet "The Nutcracker Suite." I knew I wanted to make a beautiful Christmas image for December, but I wanted to make something different. So instead of going the cuddly way, I did something on the sinister side. There is this one version of the nutcracker that I saw when I was little that said that if you stayed up past midnight the rat king would come and turn you into a rat. It freaked me out.
