Trying my best to plump myself up despite having a very high metabolism since I have an odd body image and hate how easily I become underweight (though the testosterone has helped me to not lose a lot of weight). It just feels right to be plumper imo!

why do people always think it's "fatphobic" to point out that being very fat is unhealthy? being very thin (underweight) is also unhealthy, but nobody has a problem with that being pointed out. and before someone replies saying, "fat people get bullied all the time for their weight", literally everybody can get bullied for anything. i've been bullied for being underweight (ik it's unhealthy), people can be bullied for their race or gender or looks, or even the way they dress.

being 10 - 20 pounds overweight (these days itd just be called thick) is fine, who cares, but obesity is a big problem in the US and has a lot of health risks, just like being extremely underweight does. being underweight is unhealthy and, yes, so is being fat. i know some people are overweight because of health conditions like diabetes but the reality is, a lot of people are not fat because of diabetes. people need to get over being overly politically correct about everything and realize that some lifestyles come with health problems, and it's not hateful to point that out.Β

SumacTree In reply to gumeimi [2019-02-20 16:22:47 +0000 UTC]

Being obese is unhealthy, yeah, the fatphobic part is that you immediately equate being fat in any way to being obese, which is just not true.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gumeimi In reply to SumacTree [2019-02-26 03:25:00 +0000 UTC]

being fat is generally unhealthy and can easily lead to obesity. and sometimes what we call "fat" is actually obese. it's unhealthy to be underweight. it's unhealthy to be overweight. those are facts.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

SumacTree In reply to gumeimi [2019-02-26 21:50:54 +0000 UTC]

Nope, if you are referring to overweight and underweight in relation to BMI tests, these tests are highly inaccurate andfar to standardized, everyone's body is different. There are more factors than height, for example if you have wider hip bones you need more fat to surround them. Etc... what you define as "obese" is probably just people that you think are too fat to be pretty. Most fat people arent obese and will not ever be obese in their lifetime.Β

gumeimi In reply to SumacTree [2019-02-28 04:50:45 +0000 UTC]

the obesity rate in the US as of 2015 - 2016 was 40% affecting about 93.3 million adults. so yes, there are a lot of fat people who are obese. what you define as "obese" is probably nothing because it's "not nice". there is a big difference between acknowledging that somebody's weight is unhealthy but respecting them nonetheless and wishing the best for them VS. refusing to acknowledge that anything is wrong with them whatsoever. but i'm done with this conversation tbh. believe what you wanna believe

I feel like you sort of misunderstood this stamp :0

I think that the stamp means that people should be treated equally, no matter how much they weigh

Since nowadays people see being extremely underweight healthier than being chubby or fat
and young people are picking up on that and starving themselves or vomiting stuff out just to have that "perfect image" of a body which doesn't in my opinion exist

and bulimia can cause many life-long internal injuries like ruined teeth and organs not being able to work properly

but maybe you meant something different, i didn't really read all of the comments and responses so it might be my fault of not readng enough and making assumptions qwq

gumeimi In reply to Budgie--Boye [2019-03-25 02:26:49 +0000 UTC]

well first of all thank you for actually responding politely !
secondly i 100% agree that everyone should be treated equally regardless of their weight (or anything for that matter). i have no problem at all with the notion that overweight people shouldn't be discriminated against but a lot of people in our society (particularly online) are also beginning to encourage it or see it as a good thing. if you're like 20lbs or heck even 30lbs overweight then your health is probably fine but then you have people who are ~200+lbs overweight and at that point it's really bad for you just like being underweight is and it shouldn't be encouraged. it's kind of going to the opposite but equally extreme end as eating disorders are. if that makes sense

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

Budgie--Boye In reply to gumeimi [2019-03-25 05:29:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I agree with you,I have even seen hate groups of people who weigh more than average make fun of skinnier people saying they are sick and that stuff.

Both being extremely overweight and unserweight is unhealthy, but yeah I just tried to explain the stamp the way I understood it. xD

It isn’t helpful either. Most likely they already know, and it doesn’t help to make them feel bad about it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gumeimi In reply to Sun-Crystals [2019-01-12 08:00:16 +0000 UTC]

pointing out that being overweight is unhealthy =/= making fun of someone for being overweight. you shouldn't tell someone who's underweight that they look like a toothpick but that doesn't mean you're automatically being hateful or closed-minded for stating that it's unhealthy to be underweight. it shouldn't be any different the other way around.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

Sun-Crystals In reply to gumeimi [2019-01-12 22:36:39 +0000 UTC]

but it's just as rude to point out someone's underweight. if you disagree fine, but it makes you look like a dick.
when you point out someone's weight (regardless of if they're over or underweight) with the context of telling them to change it, you appear to think you're entitled to giving them health advice (specifically if it's unsolicited), and 9 out of 10 times they'll either take that to an even less healthy extreme, or just ignore you.Β  I know if someone says that to me, I get very petty and go out of my way to not change anything, just because I'm stubborn like that.Β
my point is, it can be even more hurtful than helpful. Like I said before, most people already know if they're over or underweight.

on the other hand, healthy looks different on everybody. Someone who appears to be/is overweight could have a perfectly healthy lifestyle, and telling them to change it wouldn't help.
