Did you use the clouds as a background and then modeled the planes. Then did you colorize everything in GIMP? cause, this looks AMAZING!

the planes are rendered separately and then combined with the background (which you can see when you look closer actually, but it's just a quick test)

it's a concept for an animation, so i didn't try to compose the image for a still shot too much, but liked the result enough to upload it here
