Description Me, in my Gantz Suit!

The body suit I bought off ebay, it is a zentai suit!

The “bathing” suit type overlay was sewn by machine with pvc. It was quite hard to sew I had to sew very close to the edge and slowly to prevent puckering. After it was all sewn, I glued all the seams down with hot glue! YAY hot glue to the rescue!!! I used velcro to attach it to my body at the shoulders! —- I actually ended up making a crap 1st bathing suit and then a good 2nd bathing suit, my first bathing suit kept twisting. The twisting was from too much pulling one way or the other! Be warned that this will happen.

The shoulder pads were also sewn with the same technique. I also used velcro on the shoulder upper arm area so it was secure and on my upper chest.

The life circles I made out of plastic washers. I bought them in 150 piece bulk off a gentleman in Tennessee off ebay! I spray painted them with stainless steel paint. I would recommend using a sealer on top after as they do scratch fairly easily! Each life circle is two washers hot glued together with a round reflective tape circle in the center. The reflective tape I also bought off ebay from a boat and car place. I cut the reflective tape circles out with a 1 inch punch I bought at michaels for $10! Cutting them out that way saved a lot of time. I used stretch fabric glue to glue them on!

The collar I made out of fun foam and glued pvc around it. I used velcro at the back to attach it to my neck! This pattern was time consuming to make, but I found a high collar pattern online and altered it! I would recommend making the collar lower, because you can not move your head good! Neck pains!

The fingerless gloves I just bought from a Danier store a few years ago. I had a hell of a time trying to sew perfect gloves that were wearable out of pvc.

The shoes I bought from Payless shoes, I found black shoes that were easy to slip on, just stretchy laces. (the tutorial I found suggests to use velcro shoes, which also looks nice). I added a few reflective tape stripes to tie them into the boot covers better.

The boot covers I made from cereal box cardboard, toilet paper tubes, news paper and then covered with paperclay so they were a bit on the heavy awkward side! I had to walk a bit different and wondered how anyone could fight in these boots. I finished the boots of with shiny black paint to match the suit better. I covered the inside of the boots with black duct tape so that it was more sealed. - Towards the end of the day the boots had some of the white paper clay peaking through but they didn’t get as damaged as I thought they would! I will def. repaint and seal for next time.

I had a few wardrobe mishaps, one life circle fell off the inner top of the boot probably because I kept knocking them together. and at the END of the day a life circle fell off my collar, probably because I kept taking it off and on, the thing was so cumbersome. I would recommend making the neck brace not as high as I did!

I made all the patterns myself, from the boots, to the shoulder pads to the collar. I recommend going to a reputable fabric store and buying some design paper with the blue exes from there

Remember a measuring tape is your best friend! I made all my pieces wider/longer then they needed to be just in case I needed more room and measured wrong…I am very much a cut twice measure once person!

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being hardest, I would say this cosplay was a 9 for me. Probably from my lack of experience and the fact that I only have 1 year of sewing experience.

Hope this might help a few people! because I had a hard time figuring out what I needed to do!
