Description Been having one of those weeks where everything feels harder than usual. Painting helps relax me.

So, I decided to revisit the biddinal which I created back in my angsty teen years since they're still a fun concept. Decided to use a similar colorscheme as this old piece: [link]

It's fun to revisit older material and view it from a new point of view. I've been trying to sketch rather than play games. Makes me productive.

This looks really good. I really like how the character looks and the overal color and style really have a great look and feel to the scene.

I saw this and I KNEW which picture the pallet came from. I was also excited to see an old concept resurrected! I've always loved the biddinals and sil... varians?

Is it bad that this tiger reminds me of Rufus from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure?
Something about cool cats from the future, methinks.

Woah flashback (just as I go back to look through art in the Jenna-inspired art "scene")
I like how much more lion-like the biddinal looks now.

Yeah, hahaa, Jenna left a huge mark, especially in my early art days.
I am happy to say that I feel I've reached a point where I can draw things with a clear inspiration (or in this case, re-drawing something with a clear inspiration), and yet have my personal style and vision be the driving point behind the image.

I always imagined them to be lion like. Once I got past my "too cool for inspiration" stupid phase, I actually have given myself the ability to make them resemble something more alive.

Wow, i havent seen this race of yours in ages I thought you had given up on them entirely.

I love the way all of your paintings have this crayon/pastels look to the strokes, mera Any chance of revealing your secret for that? I'd really wana try that XD

Naw, I've just been taking my time studying things I need to study. I want to go back into some of my old concepts in the near future :3

It's not a super secret! I use a ton of either downloaded texture brushes, or just use the ones already included in Photoshop (the dry media brushes) and play with the brush settings and make combinations in dual brushes until they make something I like.

This explains the basic concept, though.

I so totally love that concept. And revisiting older material is always fun. At least we can measure how much we've improved during the years.
