Hey, I just found one of these (dead unfortunately) and wanted to ID it. It's apparently called an agreeable tiger moth, (Spilosoma congrua). I'll be honest, this is the first moth that has really impressed me.

I recently upgraded to a Nikon D3100 so I know what you mean, I am saving up for lenses now too. All the macro shots up right now were taken with either my old Coolpix 4500 or Coolpix 8800, they had wonderful macro modes!

You say "Macro mode", do you mean it's something from your camera? Like, integrated to it?

Yes, most cameras have it. If you camera has "scene" modes like sports, portrait and landscape macro is usually depicted by a flower.

It has, but there's not much difference to the other modes, I have to say ._. and when I get too close, it won't focus anymore, so...

haha too true!! it's frustrating how fleeting wildlife can be..... like last night i wanted to get a picture of a bird, so i ran inside to get my camera and as soon as i came back out... off he flew! he hadn't even seen me yet - i was around the corner!! grrrr lol

Holy sheet! Thats massive! I was in a cabin in BC last summer and I remember we heard this big THUD on the window, and we looked and there was this humungous beetle moth thing stuck ti the outside of the window. He was so big.. So we named him Thor. Lol it was awesome. Good memories.. anyway, great shot. All your stuff awesome!
