Description If the rapture was today, how hard would God have to tug? Our foundation and our roots are in heaven and not on earth. (see 1st John 2:15)

Not to be difficult; I'm genuinely confused by the whole "Rapture."
I've heard people would just disappear, body and soul. (You know, like the bumper sticker that says, "In case of Rapture this car will be empty."Β
Now, I can understand that the soul goes to Heaven or Hell.

But what would God do with all those bodies?

Seriously, if the hereafter is a place for our souls, it means it's non-corporeal, and any body you have isn't flesh and blood.

So, like I said, what would he do with, or even need, bodies for?Β
Not trying to cause trouble, just honestly confused.

First understand that the rapture is a fairly recent idea in Christianity, it's only popped up in the last 150 years or so. Outside of the US it's not nearly as common of a theory either.

Regardless of that, the Bible says that the eternal state will be one of corporeal existence for both the redeemed and the damned. It's only during this current time (From Creation to the end of the world) that the soul leaves the body and goes to God while the body remains on earth. But after Jesus returns there is a resurrection of all people where bodies and souls are reunited and then final judgment. The idea that the afterlife is one of disembodied spirits floating on clouds and playing harps for eternity does not come from Scripture. I imagine the medieval church's fascination with Greek philosophy had something to do with it. The confession of faith that my church (Baptist) hold says this:

Chapter 31: Of the State of Man after Death and Of the Resurrection of the Dead

1._____ The bodies of men after death return to dust, and see corruption; but their souls, which neither die nor sleep, having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God who gave them. The souls of the righteous being then made perfect in holiness, are received into paradise, where they are with Christ, and behold the face of God in light and glory, waiting for the full redemption of their bodies; and the souls of the wicked are cast into hell; where they remain in torment and utter darkness, reserved to the judgment of the great day; besides these two places, for souls separated from their bodies, the Scripture acknowledgeth none.
( Genesis 3:19; Acts 13:36; Ecclesiastes 12:7; Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:1, 6,8; Philippians 1:23; Hebrews 12:23; Jude 6, 7; 1 Peter 3:19; Luke 16:23, 24 )

2._____ At the last day, such of the saints as are found alive, shall not sleep, but be changed; and all the dead shall be raised up with the selfsame bodies, and none other; although with different qualities, which shall be united again to their souls forever.
( 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; Job 19:26, 27; 1 Corinthians 15:42, 43 )

3._____ The bodies of the unjust shall, by the power of Christ, be raised to dishonour; the bodies of the just, by his Spirit, unto honour, and be made conformable to his own glorious body.
( Acts 24:15; John 5:28, 29; Philippians 3:21 )

Bodies are essential for movement and a tool to fulfill what is written and is gonna happen. What did I just said? Well, dead bodies serves as food for other creatures, and, they make soil healthy. Ok. I dunno what I just replied.
