Description Who doesn't like a chubby chopper?! This helicopter is a custom design and as far as I know no real aircraft has this layout. I wanted to draw him after seeing some of the assorted helicopters and aircraft that amberchrome draws here on DA. If you got the time go check out some of their art. Any way, this helicopter has retractable landing gear, blackhawlk style exhaust shields, Russian pattern air intakes, a twin engine power plant, twin rotors, as well as a hubless rear tail rotor because science! Wasn't so sure about the color at first but its growing on me.

He's so cute! I have not seen a helicopter this cute before!
All your drawings are brilliant btw

I guess the hub-less tail rotor is a propellor attached inside a ring that spins via some sort of gear cog outside the ring

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them! The way I envisioned this hubless system working is pretty much exactly what you described. I feel that it could be safer if instead of one motor on the tail, there could be a second motor working in tandem with the first for added performance and safety in case one should fail. The hubless system allows for more motors to be easily synced up and concealed in the tail structure to reduce drag. Β Β

I think it also gives slightly more protection to the motor and improves the tail rotor's efficiency as there is nothing blocking the airflow generated from the tail rotor . This should be the future of tail rotors!
