Description

On tumblr! Please reblog, don't repost. Thank you!

I painted this wayy back in the summer, but I only scanned it the other day, I'm trying to catch up with my backlog of art. I saw some photos of nebula opals that look amazing, but seeing as I will never be able to get my hands on one of those I did my own interpretation. I'm going to do more, as it was a lot of fun and I want to take the idea further. I’ve got a b/w ink one & a few geodes in the works, possibly a pattern too.

I loved collecting crystals as a kid...and fossils, shells, see glass, acorns, feathers.. pretty much anything you could find! My little sister and I had matching bum bags (aka fanny packs for Americans) which we would stuff full of ‘treasure’ on every walk we went on. I remember finding an amethyst chunk in a river bed on Dartmoor which I was so proud of at the time, I got it out other day, it’s smaller than I remember of course, but still pretty! I've recently come kind of full circle and started collecting things when I'm out and about again

I’m going to update my redbubble/society 6 soon with loads more art, I think this might make a cool tee or pillow!

Also, Steven Universe has probably influenced me too! c:

this is beautiful!
i love how seamless the whole thing is, like a contained nebula
reminds me forcefully of a piece i did back in 2013 for my girlfriend,
simonpark81.deviantart.com/art…
looks almost identical - im not saying its copied or anything, im just surprised at how similar the shapes look.
a very iconic image, and beautifully put together.

Thank you! I'm glad you think so!
Wow, your piece is beautiful, a lovely sense of scale and depth, and the way the light emanates from it is beautiful. I can assure you though, I had never seen your piece before! I know that people can spontaneously create similar imagery, but I try to avoid anything looking like someone else's work, and I hadn't come across any nebula-filled gems online before.

i totally agree - your idea is so cool, so unique and original!
as i said before, i dont think it is copied! its amazing how similar they look at a glance though,
perhaps we got our crystal shapes from the same 'ideological sub-conscious crystal' from another dimension?
and i agree, never seen a nebula crystal before, and this is a brilliant idea!!
keep up the great work, you have amazing skill
