Background:

When Bliss was born, her demon mother Delilah left her and her father Erick. Erick, being unable to care for a demon child, left Bliss in the care of her aunt and uncle. Due to rarely seeing him, she never had a very close relationship with her father and instead preferred the company of her many cousins, despite feeling inferior compared to them.

Bliss became a Lurker at the age of fourteen. Lurkers are creatures that invade another person's dreams and show them their worst nightmares, feeding off of the fear. They are created when a person experiences chronic nightmares or severe depression, causing paranoia from sleep deprivation. Intake of fear acts as both an antidepressant and nourishment for the Lurker, and not intaking fear can lead to malnourishment and symptoms similar to withdraw.

While on the school swim team, Bliss starts to become more confidant in her abilities, though still feels insecure around the demonic side of her family. The personality she displays around her cousins is a lot quieter and more reserved compared to how she acts around her friends, who she is more comfortable around. School is fun for her, though she hates doing her school work, and she becomes very popular in her grade. She loves the attention and praise from her fellow students, but she prefers trying to get her best friend Alalia to be more affectionate, as she believes that there's nothing better than being loved by someone who hates everyone.
