it's a cross between and old film still and a balkan refugee camp portrait. in a good way...like, i think there's great emotion in the piece, great captured real emotion, but it retains an almost theatrical, dramatic quality. part of that might be your model.
how'd you print this? is it darkroom, or is it scanned, or what? my reason for asking is that the bordering white strip which only goes around three sides bothers me. i think you should either choose to do a full border (perhaps print it full-format), or remove it completely (which would be my personal aesthetic suggestion for the style and subject matter of the photo, though i don't know how that would translate to da).
in any case...i like this much more than your other recent photo. which sounds like a personal issue.

Scanned from a photo developed in the darkroom. Probably not the best print I could have gotten from the negative, but I lost it [the negative] and had not yet discovered the joys of filters at the time of printing. Also there was dust. Goddamn you, dust. In regards to the border- I had to upload it using photoshop. That progam just escapes me... The border bothers me too, but I have no idea what I would do to change it.

I prefer this one as well.
