I'm really digging this Kevin, man. Look at him! All snazzy. Excited for where this is going.

Brother Tran? Oh, geez, he doesn't just look like Kevin, he is Kevin!

But why don't Dean, Sam and Castiel recognize him? This comic takes place in an alternative season eight, doesn't it? On the show, Kevin is introduced in season seven.

Excellent question. In my story, in my universe - I started this before Kevin died in season nine - and I was just - so completely offended by the needless-ness of it. Kevin Tran's character development and perseverance and intelligence and just HEART - he didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve to die as a plot device to make Gadreel hated.

So in my universe - the boy profit was not Kevin Tran - let me be someone else. In my universe - the Kevin who died in season 9 - hardened, injured, but still so good - wanting to make a difference - wanting to smite evil with a desperation that strikes fear into the heart of demons - transfer your knowledge of that character to this Kevin, this brother of a holy knighthood.

This is my way of honoring his character and including him in this story.

All right. Yeah, I agree that Kevin shouldn't have died the way he did. One of the more frustrating themes of the show seems to be that good people die pointlessly and without warning. In a show about good vs. evil, there is very little justice for the people who choose to fight on the side of good.

Your Brother Tran, it would seem, is a very different person than the AP-student Kevin Tran on the show. I understand that he's similar in personality to S9 Kevin, but the very fact that he's a warrior priest means he has lived a very different life than the canon Kevin. I'd be interested in learning Brother Tran's back story. Is he American? How did he end up in the Vatican? Season 8 and 9 Kevin was very obsessed with completing the task that had been given to him (i. e. translating the tablets) to the point of neglecting his own health and well-being. Is Brother Tran as devoted to a specific task, even if he isn't a prophet here?

Also, if he's a knight, can he fight? Is he as skillful as Master Chau?
