This art features my BnHA OC, Karamea Kinaki.

One of Karamea's defining features is that she is pretty much always tired. This tends to come with the territory when you're chronically ill, but especially when one of your chronic illnesses is a sleeping disorder.

Karamea has narcolepsy with insomnia and cataplexy -- essentially, inappropriate daytime sleepiness and fragmented sleep, with difficulty sleeping at night and episodes of muscular weakness that can look like rapidly falling asleep or fainting. Narcolepsy is the main diagnosis here; the insomnia and cataplexy are common features of narcolepsy and not diagnoses in and of thmselves. She was diagnosed as a teenager, and has spent the last fourteen years of her life trialing different medications, trying to find an effective treatment regimen. She can't drive because of the cataplexy (at least Japan has good public transport!) and when it's particularly bad she mainly gets around via her walking chair, because she could be fainting several times a day.

So, when she manages to sleep through the night... it's cause for celebration.
