QUIRK: Electromagnetic Tracking // Chishiki has the ability to sense and read minute fluctuations in electromagnetic fields given off by electronic devices, living creatures, and the Earth itself, allowing her to position herself in relation to other people/objects and track them through interacting electromagnetic fields.

Chishiki’s given name is a homophone for a word meaning knowledge, given to her by working-class parents who felt their own lack of schooling as a constant regret. She grew into the name in spectacular fashion. Walking and speaking in full sentences at just over a year old, Chishiki taught herself to read, and from then on she was like a sponge, soaking up information like she was trying to fill a whole library in her mind. Her memory is eidetic—once she learns a fact or a skill, she can recall it perfectly at any point no matter how much time has passed, and can even repeat whole chapters of books without error. She was accelerated through two grades in elementary school, entering high school at thirteen, and graduated just after her fifteenth birthday, having already received a full ride scholarship to Tokyo University. By twenty, she was well into studying for her PhD.

Chishiki went to Shigi Academy, the same year and same class as Karamea Kinaki. She was two years younger than most of her classmates, but became one of the more popular members of the class thanks to her outgoing and sociable personality. At the beginning of the year, she attempted to make friends with Karamea, but was rebuffed strongly. Chishiki took this as a terrible insult, and throughout their two years of high school (both completed an accelerated course instead of the usual three years) the two girls were caught in an intense and at times malicious rivalry. Fortunately, while they went to the same university afterward, they entered different courses, and the time apart helped them chill out. They still consider each other big competition, but they are capable of being professional around each other if—suspicious and wary.

Give them time. They might become friends eventually.

Important note: Karamea was legitimately kind of an asshole in middle and early high school. The three factors that turned her around were her dad's disapproval, making friends with Kyouya (who was not afraid to call her out on being an asshole), and this mess with Chishiki...
