Description Another page of Fray's background. Thought I'd make use of more room on the page and get rid of some positive space! I'm pleased to say that I'll be doing more pages. These have really come along great maybe even less detailed pages just to increase the difficulty and improve the skill.

"my friends, even in death, come to my aid. Covered in all my friends and family, I am blessed with a life after death."

the one before can be found here!

Man... this is just as good as the last one! And she looks really hurt... can she survive 40% 3rd degree burns? I mean, even today most folks die from that much damage. I hope she has some magic handy!

I left it up to interpretation but in my fantasy portrayal of her mythology created by myself, I had a few things go not as normal as things could go. Her burns came from the dragon's magical scar. It is a fire that leaves a scar across the heart of the creature it burns but does not outright kill anyone. The wounds, while fresh were smothered and kept from perforation from the ashes and muck made from the remains of her people. They still operate as burns in terms of mechanics like a small decrease dexterity and strength, constitution issues in cold and heat.  Later in the campaign, she'll be dipping into life domain cleric, cutting time off her own life to preserve another. I hope she becomes a vessel for negative and positive energy. Like a harbinger who decides life or death, but doomed to live in agony and seething hatred.

Wild! I love the idea of dragonfire that burns the heart/soul rather than the body, and that the remains of her people saved her I also like the idea of a cleric that sacrifices themselves to help others. Agony and Seething Hatred are pretty scary though.

The power of life makes her sick due to all the darkness and necrotic powers she receives from true hatred. I thank you for enjoying my ideas! If you have any input I would surely love to hear about it!

Oh... so she's like a negative cleric? And she heals folks to 'get rid of the life'?

A negative cleric who uses positive powers to extract life from herself, thus it is negative in turn.

That's wild! Does it hurt when she does that? I'd think it'd be painful... but maybe she likes it?

Have you heard of Dark Knights from the Final Fantasy/Square Enix pantheon of classes/jobs? "My anger, pain and sadness—shall be your loss." They sacrifice their HP to deal more damage. made popular by Leon(FF2) and Cecil(FF4).  It's sort of the basis in which my friend created the class for 5e. The difference is that these dark knights are consumed by a hatred for life. Fray is specifically consumed by a hatred for injustice towards life. Rather than hating every life in existence, she finds herself the lowest of the low and will keep anyone alive she deems necessary to carrying out justice alongside her. This is where she draws her line. Her philosophy on life is, if you commit unjust acts, then you deserve to die painfully, if you deserve to live, she deserves to painfully die. She may not completely die immediately, but it's the simple act casting positive energy that hurts her negative and necrotic blood.

One could say she likes the pain, sure, but it's the pain in combat that makes her perform better. The curing and blessing of others makes her physically sick to her stomach enough to want to vomit blood.

I had not heard of FF Dark Knights, as I've not really played those games, (and know nothing about FFII or FFIV). I've watched a friend play FFX and I've played the first disc of FFVII, and I've played FFVI up until the first boss (the snail thing in the very first town) but no further because I can't be bothered to beat the boss. I like games with pretty explosions or meaningful choices, and if a game doesn't have either, I don't play it.

I like the idea of Fray, she's pretty cool. I like that she's a champion of the oppressed, and seeks justice. It's crazy that casting positive energy spells harms her, but I suppose that's her lot in life (undeath?).

So she doesn't mind getting hit in a fight, but casting a healing spell afterwards really makes her sick... poor Fray!

It's hard for me to play games where you can't make your own character or turn a character into a pantheon of classes, but when I do it's typically a final fantasy game.
I actually haven't come to that part just yet. The idea is still being played with; her life. I've often speculated that she did die and that her soul is so full of hate that she'll just remain the angry undead. Taking the oath of dark knight isn't something to be taken lightly, as it literally changes the way your blood works and how your rituals work. I also speculate that the oath of Dark Knight was taken almost immediately after being mortally burned alive in dragon fire. It's a bit of a loose end campaign where the lore is very slim and mysterious, left for open interpretation and speculation, so I thought maybe making a myth surrounding her life continue to be shrouded in shadow.

I'm perfectly happy playing a First-Person-Shooter or Adventure game with no control over story or character, but if I'm playing a Role Playing game, then I want some real control over the role I play. Because no JPRG has any kind of player agency, I just can't get into them. On the other hand, most western RPGs don't have any real player agency, so it's a small list of RPGs that I actually enjoy.

I like the idea that you're still exploring who Fray is, and keeping the details under wraps does heighten the mystery!

Lol I gained another level in Artifex and gained another class feature! I also have an extra attack now so that's good! One extra spell ain't too shabby neither ; )
