Back Story: Just as a young Hoglet (Baby Hedgehog), Casey was abandoned and left inside an open cardboard box in a small alley way in Station Square. On a mission to look for a lost Chaos Emerald before Eggman and his Robots took it for themselves, Team Dark descended on the city to seek it out. Searching high and low for the Chaos Emerald, Team Dark discovered the abandoned Hoglet in the box, and decided to take her back to GUN headquarters shortly after finding the yellow Chaos Emerald.
After seeing the cold, wet baby Hoglet, The Commander said that it wouldn't be a good idea to keep the child, but the Ultimate Lifeform, Shadow the Hedgehog disagreed. He persuaded the Commander that as Casey grew, he would teach her to be a useful part of the Military. For some reason, the Ultimate Lifeform took pity on the baby Hoglet, and new that she would do better with them than with some other strangers.
The Commander let the team keep her, but most of the time it would be Shadow keeping Casey company. He would feed her, bath her, look after her, and with difficulty, change her. He would also take her to School, since he was too busy to educate her himself. He was like her father, teaching her his ways of combat as she grew older. Thanks to him, she now has the ability to Spin Dash, Spin Attack, Homing Attack, Spin Kick, Somersault, and even turn Super Casey.
Casey loves Shadow as her father, and also her best friend. She always looks out for him, as he looks out for her. When she was finally at the age she could choose her own path in life, she decided to leave GUN and go her own way. She still see's Shadow and the rest of Team Dark, when they're not too busy doing their duties.
