No offense meant to anyone who loves the Ritchie film, but I'm for old-school, bookverse, canonical Holmes m'self.

PS- I suppose I should add that this is taken partly from my own view after theatre experience (having a particular character of mine who lived in the 16th century costumed as if she were Moses' wife sort of threw me), and also, I personally will take Holmes however he comes. <3

Personally, I believe the icon should be addressed to Guy Ritchie, and/or the costume designers on the film. I know RDJ had some say in his character's appearance, but the director and designers are the be all end all of how the character will look in the film.

I'm totally the same. I hated the new Sherlock Holmes movie. R.D. JR was a terrible Holmes. I'm such an old school Holmes fan...same with Star Trek.

Can I agree 100% with this? Hard, only 50% I think! I absolutely adore Brett's acting as Holmes, but I think RDJr's outward experience portrayed him more than I imagined Holmes!
But yes, Brett is playing him better!

i agree on the looks part. but i personally thought holmes was more of an odd, spastic actually, character than what most actors portray. in my opinion, i believe the LOOK should've gone to another actor (even Jude Law could've looked more Holmes than Downey Jr.) but the way he is portrayed in this newest movie is spot on with Downey's acting.

Yep, I agree! There's nothing more to be said. If one doesn't believe you simply make him/her read A Study In Scarlet for example. RDJ doesn't match the description of Holmes at all!!
