Okay, after this I promise I'll [try to] stop spamming my own gallery with different WIPs of this picture. And once it's done, they'll get moved to scraps.Thank you so much to everyone who commented on the first version [link] of this!! All the suggestions, pointers, and tips were *very* helpful.
Soooo..... better?
I tried to make Kagome look more surprised, and the action and pose look more sudden and more natural. I also added Inuyasha's claws and that pesky rosary-necklace thing (poor guy!), as well as the first-aid box.
Let me know what you think! Sorry it's so messy-looking; it's photoshop editing over a scanned print of the scan of the original sketch... how's that for being convoluted??

I like this one even better than the first version, but there's still something bothering me. You said Kagome is surprised by Inuyasha's action, so maybe you should draw her eyes wide open in shock to show the situation's sponteneity.

Yeah, I see what you mean about maybe making her eyes open, but that was the one thing I actually wanted to avoid with this - I think it's great for an animated sequence or a manga panel, but I thought it would look a bit funky in a fanart, you know? But you're right - it IS an issue to think about with this picture. I *do* appreciate your input.

I see, you want it to be not typical manga style, so you want to avoid big eyes, sweat drops and stuff like that, right?

I like how the first drawing *yes, I'm bored, so I'm comparing the first pic to this, because I have naught else to do* is as if this one happened already...like the first picture was the "after" of this one...if that makes any sense at all...

This is really beautiful! Looking at the first version, I can definitely tell the differences. And this version looks more natural and sweet. 
Anyway, other than that, this looks perfect! The pose is very sweet and original! And I agree, pulling her hair to get her to kiss him seems in-character.

Aww, thanks! The finished version is still in the works right now, and may remain so for a while... because I really need to get some original fantasy pieces done. But hopefully those won't take too long!

This is really neat to see in comparisson to the first version.
The subtle changes you've made in response to peoples suggestions are really great.
Its easy to get so carried away with the creation of a picture that you overlook small aspects and stuff - like the surprised body language of the girl in this image. - So asking people with a fresh set of eyes to see what they notice is a really great idea.
I myself have never really uploaded a WIP for people to help me on; but after seeing this Im inspired to try it sometime. It seems really worthwhile.
looks like you're putting alot of thought and energy into perfecting this piece, and I bet it will turn out fabulously - on more than one level.

Yeah, if you ever have a piece that you're jut wanting to get some feedback on, uploading a work-in-progress can sometimes be a really good idea. You always get lots of ideas that just make you laugh, or that you stare at in stupefication (is that a word?) because you would never dream of using them, but you also get a fresh perspective, and it's often very helpful. Thanks for the vote of confidence - I hope it meets with your approval when it's done!

I give it two purrrrrsss, it just gets better and better. I agree the pose conveys surprise more and so does dropping the pad. Inu grabbing the back of Kagome's head tells us how much he's "into" the kiss. This makes me want to run off and work on the two sketches I've currently got sitting on my computer -thanks for "encouraging" my muse to come back for a visit (boogerhead's been going MIA on me).
