Description When I first conceived of Eiran, he wasn't a Keeper - just a Messenger Elf who knew a little too much. It never quite seemed right - characters have a way of informing you who and what they're supposed to be and Eiran was supposed to be a Keeper. In order to make him one I had to upend the magic system in Dragonfeathers but it was worth it. (And it all came back together better and more sensible than it was before.)

Eiran is the Keeper of Life. Life magic is completely non-offensive, making Eiran the only Keeper who can't fight. He's a healer. As he can't fight nor defend himself, he's the only Keeper bonded to a Shennavyre. Riding her, he can keep out of harms way and play a supportive role in large battles.

Eiran's Shennavyre, Ayanna, was the Shennavyre who laid the two eggs which Lyrique and Lancelin would eventually find after the death of the original Keeper of Light. Eiran carried these two eggs with him for many thousands of years, journeying from world to world trying to find the people for whom they'd hatch. Eventually, one was lost as he flew through a storm over the ocean on Aire'Lios. (The home planet of Lyrique and Lance.) He gave away the other shortly afterwards, taken by an overwhelming instinct to leave it in the hands of a four year old human girl when he visited to inform her mother of her father's passing.

With the two eggs now out of his hands, Eiran remained on Aire'Lios playing a role of Messenger between the Human Mage Tower and the Elven Lands. It was only a matter of time before the new Keepers of Light and Shadow emerged.

The varying line widths, along with the painterly colors, makes for a lovely effect.
(I also like the soft yellow-ishness to the colors here; very warm, and seems to hint at the personality behind the character.)

He does have a pretty warm nature, for an Elf.
