Coco - The keyboard is a favourite stomping ground for both Tom and Arwen, as well as my lap. But, they are too big to sit on the monitors.

Lancaster is bigger than tiny Chanel and usually tips the monitor backwards, but from kittenhood I trained them not to walk on the keyboard, as this drove me crazy ~ however, they do constantly fight over my lap which unfortunately is only big enough for one or the other!

Tom has just remarked to me, Coco, that he knows not what the word "train" could mean for him - a type of masochistic exercise, a mode of transport, a long appendage to a dress, a parade even, or perhaps aiming a weapon, but none of these could possibly apply to Tom or indeed any self-respecting cat. "What does Coco mean?" asks Tom.

David, tell Tom that ever since they were very small and crawling all over my keyboard, I always pushed them off, and over time they learned to step very gingerly around it, although they know they can go elsewhere, like my lap, behind the computer, and Chanel on top of the monitor! Does this mean they're not 'self-respecting' cats?

Tom is intrigued by this conversation, Coco. He said, "I've learnt a great deal from this kind lady, but she keeps using alien concepts like "pushed off". To me, he says, being pushed off means that the place is very important to you and thus to me. So, that is where I shall go. As the meerkat says "Simples"." (Do you get the meerkat ads in Australia?)
Reasoning with Tom is an exercise in futility. However, he sends Best Meows to Chanel and Lankie, and adds that he would never dream of impugning their self-respect. (Have you ever come across a cat with such an extensive vocabulary?)

David, Chanel (aka Moncus) and Lankie thank Tom (and his extensive vocabulary) for his comments and are glad they still retain his respect. However, I'm sure they envy his tree-climbing abilities, as they are restrained in their silliness (and for their own safety) to the kind lady's townhouse and only enjoy her garden courtyard for 15 minutes or so a day ~ for grass munching and insect chasing! Unfortunately, the tree-climbing has been replaced with couch destruction!
P.S. Don't know the meerkat ads ~ what a pity!

Looks like all fur ruffling has subsided, Coco. My two pussies get out only at the cottage, not here - too many bad guys about.

Hi David, Jack came over for dinner last night ~ and we spent most of the evening catching up on post-holiday correspondence and pics. Β Thanks BTW, for the rest of the snaps on email ~ I'd had trouble with my webmail being too full and when I went into optusnet.com.au itself and trashed all the extraneous stuff, the rest of the captures came through! 
We came upon this correspondence here and wanted to tell you we've had the meerkat ads for quite a while ~ they must've commenced here in Oz not long after ~ they are so "simply" cute!

What a nice reminder of this happy thread, Coco. Glad you got the other photos, and that you have the meerkat adverts - they are good fun. Tom is slowing down a bit these days, but is as noisy as ever. Arwen has become Miss Naughty and is causing all sorts of havoc. But, we're off to the cottage tomorrow, so they'll Β get out and about.

And what havoc is that naughty Princess Arwen causing? ~ I hope she's not destroying your furniture as my two have done for the last five yearsΒ ~ I'm seriously having to consider re-upholstering my lounge suite (sigh)! Hi Klara - Arwen has taken to meowing loudly, running around the house, and scratching the furniture. She does this until she is picked up, placed in a cardboard box and the box, with her in it placed on my knee to stroke her!!! However, here at the cottage they have both been out exploring even though there is pouring rain. Now, they have come in sodden and are sleeping in front of the stove.
