Thanks Kat ... but I think I've become obsessed with this parameter and the metallic colourmap ... I can't seem to stop myself ... it's taken me over and I'm having to force myself to try and create something softer and prettier - and I confess, it hasn't been easy choosing just five out of over 200 pics I've made on this theme! (I do like the way they turn out though, that's the problem!) Cheers, Coco

What an amazing and clever suggestion Kat! Yes, that's definitely the way I'll go now, which is great because I'll need 9 pieces for the quilt (number I in the series was a square - that can go in the centre) and as I'd need another 8 in portrait aspect to surround it (I already have 4), that will give me the absolute go-ahead to milk another 4 from this series! And if people begin to question why I'm producing so many from this one parameter, I'll just have to tell them that on La Purr's recommendation I should make a quilt out of them, and of course on hearing that, they'll then nod their heads sagely at the wisdom and brilliance of your suggestion (I'm serious)! Number VI in the series coming soon.

I accept the blame.

A square in the center creates the wrong aspect ratio to use a portrait layout for the rest. You could even do 12 pieces and make them all the same aspect. You'd have to make that many more! (I quilted for many years...the layout problem struck me immediately.)

Yes, you're right about the aspect! Then how about I make another 2 portrait and another 2 square - the layout could be 3 portrait ones at the top and bottom and 3 square ones in the centre row - that'd work wouldn't it? And I could fringe-frame it on Photoshop - I'm excited now!

That will work fine as long as the widths of all the images is the same.

Thanks once again for your great suggestion Kat. I should be OK with the 9 images - I did this one with 19 and amazingly got an Honorable Mention for it. [link] In small view it kind of reminds me of those "granny squares" rugs.

I'm keeping the same gradient for continuity though and also because I personally love the gold/ silver/ copper/ bronze colourmap! Coco
