It's nice when other cosplayers get the references you make. xD
It sadly doesn't happen as often as you'd think...
At least not when it comes to references from the comics.

Oh?
Also, when did Jason first call Dick "Dickie-bird"? When Jason was Nightwing?

You know, I can't remember the first time he did...it may have been, though I think it may have been before that.
But, he calls him it a lot. He uses it to taunt him.

Makes sense; haven't seen a Dick vs Jay brawl in the N52 with the exception of a minor scuffle in a B&R issue...yet

Tim Kicked Jason in the nuts and Jason kicked Dick...

Dkalban In reply to kay-sama [2013-10-22 13:23:38 +0000 UTC]
Yep. And it doesn't help that:
1. Her parents were written as freaking hippies (which seems to be Miller's default version of liberals)
2. The Batman in that was far right wing and out to lunch (no wonder his earlier form was "The Goddamn Batman")
3. Yes, she looked like a man!
4. She just wasn't fun

Dkalban In reply to kay-sama [2013-10-23 12:12:19 +0000 UTC]
I think she was kinda hamfistedly forced into there due to a scramble to redo months of planning that went down the fucking drain. Let's just say I've had two people tell me independently that the people on B&R are PISSED at Morrison.
Harper feels a bit forced too, but not as much as Carrie

kay-sama In reply to StarDragon77 [2013-10-21 08:06:39 +0000 UTC]
Mhmm. But, it's fun being Jason Todd. Everyone expects you to be an asshole, so no one's surprised when you say something vile. xDD
π: 0 β©: 1
StarDragon77 In reply to kay-sama [2013-10-21 08:12:30 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.Β I think that's true with any villainous role that you cosplay as.Β Like Sasuke from Naruto.Β I'm willing to bet, if I cosplayed as him (the older version) and acted like a complete asshole to everyone, they'd just eat it up.Β Especially the women.Β No idea why there.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
kay-sama In reply to StarDragon77 [2013-10-21 08:18:54 +0000 UTC]
You'd be surprised.
There are a lot of villainous/mean characters I've cosplayed in which people get easily offended when you act like the character.
For instance, Gaara, The Joker, Claude Faustus....etc.
But, Jason Todd, for some reason (at least around people who know the character) people love it.
It's probably because Jason's mean-ness tends to be more on the funny side... Though, when he does get angry violent, it can be enough to make anyone piss their pants.
Jason is not a nice guy...he hasn't been since post crisis.
Even as Robin, he was a bit of a jerk post crisis.

I can imagine.Β DC gets brutal at times.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
kay-sama In reply to StarDragon77 [2013-10-21 08:27:31 +0000 UTC]
It does...but, that's the fun of it. And as much as I would love it if DC would stick to their guns, I really do prefer the darkness of DC over the storylines of Marvel.
I think that's why Batman and its related stories have really stuck with me so much.
Though, I must admit...Marvel has had a few good ones along the darker lines. Especially in recent years.

StarDragon77 In reply to kay-sama [2013-10-21 08:32:02 +0000 UTC]
Yup.Β
there were some darker stories in the Green Lantern universe.Β IT was the first one that I read called "The Emerald Twilight" where the entire city of Coast City was destroyed.Β All that was left was a huge crater and Hal used the ring to try to resurrect the city and the Guardians stepped in to tell him that he was being kicked out of the Order for using the ring for such a purpose.Β Enraged by this and still mad from grief, he goes on a killing spree and stealing the rings of other lanterns.Β until he reached the central battery and absorbed all it's power.Β

kay-sama In reply to StarDragon77 [2013-10-21 08:43:07 +0000 UTC]
Yup.
Jason Todd was beaten in the head with a crowbar with in an inch of his life and then had a building dropped on him while he was lying there barely alive.
Then, six months after being killed in such a violent way, he was raised from the dead by a fucked up Superboy while still buried in his grave and still suffering from his massive head injury. He literally had to dig himself out of his grave with his bare hands and a belt buckle with a bleeding wound and a fractured skull...plus his eye being fucked to hell.
Then, after all that, Talia puts him in the Lazarus to Β stew in Ra's Al Ghul's juices (EW) which pretty much drove him to the brink of violent insanity coupled with being told that Bruce not only didn't avenge his death, but then being told by Bruce that he never even considered killing the Joker for a second.
Which was a huge lie by the way...but, Jason doesn't know that.
This leads Jason to many more rage induced acts of violence before he finally starts to even out a bit...but, even after that, he's still homicidal and doesn't really regret his decision to kill.
Jason kills a ton of people in a multitude of ways...some more violent than others but ranging from stabbings, to shootings, to beatings, to blowing motherfuckers up with a granade launcher.

All seems to have happened around the 80s didn't it?
π: 0 β©: 1
kay-sama In reply to StarDragon77 [2013-10-21 08:52:41 +0000 UTC]
No. Jason came back to life around 2005, or so...If I remember correctly.
Jason died in the 80's and Tim came into the comics and became Robin shortly after.
Most of the really dark, violent stuff from Jason though came about in the mid to late 00's.
Then again there's a lot of stuff that goes unnoticed/unmentioned in Jason's story line...like his working with Damian and stocking Stephanie Brown.
Even his short reign as Batman is often overlooked.Β

You can find some of it for free online. I actually read "Under The Red Hood" online for free a while back...but, I have no idea if it's still free. You'd have to look and see if you can find it.
