Description
"The beach was eerily quiet that night, the only sound being the gentle crashing of the waves. I nervously glanced at my watch, I was running late and kept worrying about screwing things up. What if she had already left? What if she had changed her mind about meeting me here? My heart raced as I hurried along the sandy shore, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of her.
As I walked, I saw them. Footprints in the sand. They were fresh, and they led towards the water's edge. I followed them, my heart beating faster with every step. And then I saw her, pacing on the shore, looking out at the sea.
She turned as I approached, 'I thought you weren't coming,' she said, her voice soft and warm but with a hint of insecurity.
'I'm sorry I'm late,' I replied, breathing a sigh of relief. 'I got held up and...'
She interrupted me and quickly took my hand, we walked together along the beach, the waves lapping at our feet, making us feel the push and pull of the tide. The silence between us was filled with the sounds of the ocean. I stole glances at her, watching as her hair danced in the wind and the moonlight reflected in her eyes.
'You know,' she said, breaking the silence, 'I used to come here a lot when I was a kid. My parents would bring me and my sister every summer. It was our little tradition.'
I listened, fascinated by the way her voice was both wistful and full of longing. There was something about this place that had captured her heart, and I couldn't help but feel grateful that she had chosen to share it with me.
'I never thought I'd come back here,' she continued, 'but then I met you, and...'
She trailed off, and I knew what she was trying to say. We had only known each other for a short while, but already it felt like we had been through so much together. We had shared our hopes and fears, our joys and sorrows, and in the process, we had discovered something that was both beautiful and rare.
I squeezed her hand, trying to convey everything I was feeling in that moment. I wanted to tell her that she had changed my life, that I couldn't imagine a future without her in it. But the words wouldn't come, and instead, we walked in silence, lost in our own thoughts.
As we approached the end of the beach, she stopped and turned to face me. 'Thank you for coming,' she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. 'Thank you for inviting me,' I replied, meaning every word.
And then, as we stood there, watching the seawater crash against the shore, I took a deep breath and spoke the words that had been on my mind since the moment I first saw her.
'I love you.'
She looked up at me, her eyes shining and glistening. 'I love you too,' she said, and then we were in each other's arms, kissing as if the world had stopped turning.
In that moment, I knew that we were part of something larger than ourselves. Something that transcended time and space, something that was both fragile and eternal. And as we stood there, lost in each other, I knew that nothing could ever tear us apart."
