How do you figure out which color to use as the accents? For instance the left leg is a little bit blueish, is this a reflection of the bottom? And the down left hair is a tiny bit purple.. It's looking great. I'm aiming for this way of coloring. I find it amazing.

About how I figure, I just see some artwork of others artist and then try it myself.
keep trying and you'll get it soon.
if you want to make the reflection, make a new layer above the shadow, cliping group, and change mode to overlay, brush them, and finishing use blur to make it softer.
