also if u look rlly close the smoke it made up of me just scribbling the words "you should have raised a baby girl, i should have been a better son" over and over again

a little while after Killian’s gone off to college, he comes home for Thanksgiving dinner and it's basically the worst thing ever. he's glad to see his sister Laurel again, but there's so much tension between him and his mom; she keeps making jabs at him, disparaging comments abt his sexuality, saying little homophobic things, etc. it ends up turning into this huge shouting match between them in which she basically says he's a filthy slut and probably lets all sorts of men fuck him all the time and is a bad influence on Laurel

which is incredibly upsetting to Killian, because a) he's been there for Laurel more than she ever was and b) he's never done anything with a guy outside of spin the bottle as a teenager for fuck's sake

so anyway they've started screaming at each other and then his mom throws her wine glass at him and it shatters against the wall beside his head and he just freezes for a few seconds and stares at her, eyes wide

and then he kicks his chair over and sweeps the cranberry sauce dish off the table and onto the floor and stalks towards the door and takes his coat and his scarf and his gloves and walks outside

and then he just starts running

he makes it like a block away and just stops and stands under a streetlight and smokes until he doesn't wanna punch a hole through a wall anymore

but he's still sooooo pissed and her words really stick with him, even after he's retrieved all his stuff and is back at his place in California

and he kinda gets this idea in his head, like, “she already thinks I'm a slut, I've got nothing to lose” and he decides he's gonna fuck a guy as soon as possible and get it over with

so like he goes to a gay bar, all determined that he's gonna do it, gonna lose his gay virginity or whatever the fuck, but like half an hour after arriving he chickens out and realized he can't do this, he's too nervous, he's too uncomfortable here, so he goes home and accepts it. he just can't do casual sex, not with a girl, not with a guy, not with anyone-- it's who he is, he won't force it, it'll just make everything worse.

and then he feels okay.
