Seriously!?!? Guild Wars couldn'y use THAT! That is one of the coolest creature concepts I've seen, would have been the most awesome creature concept in Guild Wars to me.

Forget going into GW, this should be a bonafide Zerg model for Starcraft 3, if there is ever to be one.

Ah, it's a shame this guy couldn't make it into the final game. Looks really cool, I bet it'd be fun to fight.

Well, we only get so many creature models and a lot more concepts than we can model. Lots get tossed.

So do you work for the company that makes GW? or are you just uploading this sort of stuff for fun?

I got into games doing simple 3D and lots of texture work at a low end game company. After your first job it's relatively easy to job hop and I did that several times as my skills improved. Most of the jobs were doing art revamps of game franchises, like baseball games, things that are really boring. At some point I was between jobs doing freelance when ArenaNet contacted me through my Gamasutra page. It's a really good idea to post yourself on there and Game Jobs. I flew up to Seattle to interview with ArenaNet. It was a very small company five years ago. At the time Guild Wars looked pretty bad. No one had heard of them yet. They offered me a job and I took the risk of taking it. With new companies there is a huge risk of them going under in a year or two. Because I got here so early and the Guild Wars game world is so big I was able to find a niche just doing creatures. Working on characters/creatures is generally a highly sought after position, lots more people applying for it. Some people get lucky and that's what they land in, other people like me just try to find work and hope they find an opportunity to focus on what they like the most. There are more jobs for terrain and prop artists, so those are easier to get in to. Prop work is sort of what I started in, except, it was more like I would just vertex light models that had already been made. I don't think most people would ever start out doing what I was working on initially these days. It depends where you go of course, and what kind of games you get placed on.
