Description I've been wanting to revamp this character sheet for a while, and finally have! Made it much more simple with less text, and changed some small visual things as well as her name. I always thought that "Wolf Nymph" was awkward to say out loud, so just "Nymph" or "Nym" sounds about right. I'm also directing her design to something more bold and exaggerated, and less an attempt of a naturalistic blend between her three species (which ends up looking awkward often times). I think her wing pattern is still subject to change though. Nothing is ever solid with this character, I like having a more fluid/flexible design. It's more fun!

Why no boobs? I have decided that Nymph is more like a sentient creature than a person. I want her to be more animalistic than your average anthro, but still with full human intelligence. Since canines tend not to have visible breasts unless nursing, I didn't think it was appropriate for Nymph to have a huge chest. She's got extra chest fluff instead, and retains her femanine figure otherwise, but I expect some gender confusion may occur with future uploads.

There are a variety of forms Nymph can be drawn in, just because it's fun to bend reality. I'd like to sometime create an alternative sheet of common animal forms in addition to this one.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe that large breasts are inappropriate. My character might be a flat chested critter, but I have fairly large breasts and don't find my own body "inappropriate". I personally take no issue with people who chose to create more human looking furry characters with varying cup sizes, or even more sexual looking furry characters. I'm sorry you feel that way.

Everyone has their preferences, I guess I don't agree with the idea of nudity being bad either. To each their own though!

Thankyou for not giving her boobs. xD

I really love this, despite my dislike of anthro's, but Nymph you've drawn very realistically and a lovely, fluffy mix between human and wolf. ^^

Some of the anthro art I see today though is what turned me off them... x.o Human hair, neon colours, clothing, etc...

But it definately looks like you knew what you were doing when you drew this, which is what I really love in wildlife art :3 And Nymph still has that doggy essence over the human.

/sort of rant D:

Thank you so much! Yeah, some of the "too human" characteristics of many anthros is what I'm trying to avoid. =3

I actually had an argument with an artist about my werecheetah not having breasts. (Based on the Werewolf the Apocalypse style weres.) I told her that my character still has hips and curves, just because she doesn't have boobs doesn't mean you can't make her look feminine.

Besides, in a battle, the boobs would just get in the way. I always had her thinking they were silly and annoying in her human form.

The body looks really cool. I like wher it curves/bends. The tail design is awesome too The colors of the wings are nice as well, the brown and white really works

Gah I always loved the way you do anthro legs/butts. They're always so amazingly curvy and round and muscular-looking. <3

And to be honest, I didn't even notice her lack of breasts until you brought it up xD. I think this is a good way to go. Canines don't have visible breasts like that anyway, so I think you're staying more true to her bird/wolf bits. She's so pretty. I've always loved her colors and gorgeous green eyes. <3

I certainly like her new look, m'dear! I always enjoy the fern designs you create in all of their simplistic wonderment. Great reference for all of us. Nicely done!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like her! She didn't change all that much thankfully, so no biggie! Plus older designs are still viable. I really look forward to seeing that badge in person too.

Well, at least I'll have another reference to use in the future.

like it alot. personally i would have added breasts, even if they werent sizeable, because to me its an integral part of female anatomy, but you did well portraying the character as female with out them. so, was she originally human or what?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KatieHofgard In reply to wherewolfe [2009-12-25 04:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Karge visible breasts are really only an integral part of female HUMAN anatomy, not female dog anatomy (unless nursing, as I said in the description). Anthro animals can be drawn on a sliding scale of how "human" they are, all I did was slide Nymph back a bit towards the animal side. Make sense?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wherewolfe In reply to KatieHofgard [2009-12-26 02:35:49 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i know. but with most anthros, their anatomy is already more human than anything else. its almost a given that the face will be animal, the hands, more pawlike, and usually a tail and pawlike feet. so those particular features are almost not a factor in that "scale" because every one includes them already. although the "scale" you describe makes sense, and is fun to play around with (and at times frusturating for me personally) i......
i understand that you made her move torwards the more wild animal side than most anthros by removing the breasts, but to me it seems an odd pick as the single feature to alter in the anatomy if the goal is to make her more wild and nature oriented. i guess that is what im trying to say.... yeah, thats it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KatieHofgard In reply to wherewolfe [2009-12-26 06:16:53 +0000 UTC]

I can see how you would think it's sort of random to remove breasts as a visible feature on a female character. What I was trying to say is that visible breasts are a particular human feature, so that alteration isn't random. It's specifically chosen to make her more animalistic. It may seem random or odd to you, but if you look at American culture specifically, women's identities are pretty wrapped up in the size and shape of their breasts, and how they choose to display, hide, or cloth them. By not choosing to even include them as a feature in this character, I'm removing that cultural "human" aspect of her, as well as the physical. It's not as if she doesn't have mammary glands, they are just not visible like human's are. If you shaved her down you'd see nipples. Does that help explain away the "randomness" of changing that feature? =3

wherewolfe In reply to KatieHofgard [2009-12-27 15:28:07 +0000 UTC]

i suppose it does. there are other human anatomical features you could remove in place or in addition to them though. really off base, but you have an awsome icon btw.....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KatieHofgard In reply to wherewolfe [2009-12-27 23:18:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, guess we'll just have to disagree. To me the breasts are such a crucial part of human female identity that it was the most that made sense. If I removed human-like hands or arms, she's look like an animal with breasts. If I removed bipedal walking, same thing. I can't really see much of anything else I could tone down that would make her less human, but not look like an animal with tits. XD

she's beautiful, Nym!! <3 that means we can call you that too rite? I'm glad her face markings stayed since I've always thought they were really cute xD And I think the absence of breasts gets the feel you're looking for (sentient but more animal like) <3
