It may just be 'another ordinary shot of a kingfisher', but to me, this shot means A LOT.

Ever since I got into snapping birds about 5-6 years ago, I have wanted to photograph a kingfisher. I have always kept a look out for them, and specifically kept going to the same place a few years ago as I saw one there once but never managed to photograph it as it was a fast little thing!

Last night, randomly and completely out of the blue - I had a dream about photograping a Kingfisher. My dream was vivid and I was so happy.

This morning I woke up and it seemed like a nice day out. So I decided to go out for a walk and took my camera. I went back to the same place I used to go. After nearly the end of my trip and only really snapping one picture of a bird I decided to go into the hide just before I left. 3 minutes into being in the bird hide, suddenly...a kingfisher...out of no where! No other bird in sight. Just this one kingfisher, sat on a branch right in front of me. I was shaking so hard, I was finding it difficult to contain my excitement and be quiet. I took me quite a few times to even get a good enough picture that wasn't so blurred because of my shakeyness (Didn't bring my tripod, I'm not a fan of them). This cheeky little thing managed to gulp around 8 little fishes to take back to it's nest! I didn't quite manage to get a great picture of it diving into the water or nomming on a fish but it was the best thing just seeing it, bashing the fish to knock it out! (At least that's what I think he was doing) Quite funny.

I came away extremely happy. I have had a really bad week, and this has just fixed everything. Thank you nature
