From the spirit world / immaterial planes of existence I think. If you consciously enter shamanic state of consciousness (there are many ways to do that) you can just acquire the information yourself.

I don't belive in a spirit world anymore. I just belive that people have different realities, and some of them a beautiful. And some of them is full of deamons.

Throughout history (& prehistory for that matter) the defining elements of what is seen in trance / visionary states have a lot similarities. Serpents and therianthropes are a good example. And the Alien / Fairy / spirit connection, too.
For me it's not very clear when you make the breakthrough from your own reality (subconscious) to the underlying connected realities (collective subconscious) which you could also see as spirit world. Especially if you go beyong the collective subconscious that is formed by humanity.
