Really cool how you made it look like an actual painting, especially the bleeding effect with the paint. The textures to show the fog and fauna are also really cool, in how they blend together and jsut round up the painting very well.

thank you very much. most of the piece is a drawing in graphite on bristol board then a custom worn partment was dropped in with some painting and special brushes on top it was completed with 2 others in less than 2 days.

o my god this is amazing. I love how a lot of the lines on the samurai actually look like ink brush strokes.

thank you very much! i am guessing you are refering to it looking like traditional media, if you are then yes that was my intent. A good potrait of the drawing and shading were done by hand with graphite on bristol board, then scanned into the computer where I tried to make it look as traditional as it could. This may sound strange but I like digital pieces where you can't actually tell its digital not traditional media the most.

I love it!
The background especially, it gives the image an almost era-appropriate feel. not to mention how well the work as a whole reflects the 'simple complexity' of a samurai life

you give very good comments seradhe. The class was designed to do concept art for film & games, making you place characters correctly in their environment. I tried to imagine what it would be like. the stillness of the morning, the anticipation of danger, to cool ground fog clinging to everything like a dream. To me fog is the most beautiful weather it makes everything more intresting and mysterious. I also love history and era pieces (probably why I am a historical re-enactor). and samurai one of the few truly honerable warriors... oddly enough the street i live on is only 3 blocks long and ends with a large tree in the road that creates a fork and a buddist temple.
