The best part is... it's not a comedy, this book is dead serious XDI'm not even trying to make the characters look stupid, thats how they really are.
Bella: The main character - no personality or... anything for that matter. She's just kinda there.
Edward: The vampire who makes sparkly rainbows with his skin. Also no personality.
Jacob: Sadly... -sighs- actually my favorite character. The only one with charm, mild personality but VERY bad taste in women.(if even that....) He also has extreme body heat, hence the egg frying on his shoulder...
I can go on for hours an how terrible the book is. And how terrible the characters are. But i'll restrain myself for now.
And if any hardcore fans come across this...
YES i have read the books. I'm on my way on reading Breaking The Dawn, and judging by the spoilers i've read, it's going to be even more ridicilous than the previous books. Oh man i can't wait <3
It's hard to admit it, but this stupid series has a way of brainwashing you. Like... i enjoy reading it, untill i start thinking. Soo... in order to truly understand this book, you need to think outside the box. If i didn't think about it, i would actually like the series. Which... is a scary thought. >_<;

I hated the series, my mother has all of the books and movies - she LOVED it when it came out. Personally, Bella was the type of girl who always seemed to get in the way of everything - Edward should of let her be ran over. Jacob was half-decent, only because he didn't have the decency to get Bella pregnant with a vampire kid. Seriously though, why? Bella shouldn't of become a Vampire, she shouldn't of become pregnant and she should of just left the supernaturals alone instead of getting herself tangled in their world.
I felt bad for Jacob in the end, first because he fell in love with Bella and second because Edward savagely handed him a wedding invitation.Β
I think that was the best bit, to be honest, when Jacob ran away because it meant he could find someone better.
Overall, it was a terrible series and I would never, EVER watch them again unless I wanted to punish myself.
Even Cassandra Clare's books (to be specific, The Mortal Instruments series) was better and that was bad - although I did enjoy the first few books but then everything turned into absolute garbage.

LAST THING: To all you triggered Twilight fans who are hating on this piece: everybody has different opinions and you should go back to tumblr or wattpad where you an read all those juicy fanfics which you seem to like reading. And don't return to this place if you don't like different opinions.

Technically, Bella has a personality. A very, very, very bad and obnoxious one. She's manipulative, whiny, stupid... actually, she's a typical "ZomG, my parents SUUUCK" type of teen, only amplified to high heavens. (Also BD is mostly boring because NOTHING happens. Well, Leah does something REALLY cool. But it's off-screen and she's vilified for it, of course. The one awesome character in the books (and movie) does the best thing ever, off-screen. And we AREN'T supposed to enjoy it.)

The first 3 are..... decent. Because they took the non-plot of the first 3 books and actually made it somewhat, kinda, sorta interesting.
The BD movies are shit because Meyer had her hands all over it and wouldn't let it go.

I tried reading the books to see what all the fuss was about, but I honestly couldn't get past the third page, I just did not like it and couldn't keep going. I was told it got better 100 pages in but... if I couldn't stand three pages, what was gonna make me plow through 100?

I remembered reading the first book when I was in high school. My friends and I were so excited to see the movie. I mean my school used to be completely divided into Team Edward and Team Jacob (I was in Team Jacob....because I love wolves?), lol But after 2nd book/film, I "woke up". My friends were still fans. Only me and my best friend were only ones of the gang who didn't really care much about Twilight, through the rest of our high school years.Β

It's a book series that knows it's audience. I wouldn't say it's quality writing but the series is enjoyable to a large enough demographic to be successful. From that perspective, they are good books even if the plot, characters, and whatnot are bad.

I've read about half way through the first one, doesn't seem horrible so far. It's no classic, but not bad imo. Kinda reminds me of a partial reading level above maybe Goosebumps books? On the other hand I really did like the 50 Shades of Grey books. I found the psychology of the characters fascinating even if the bdsm in the book leaves one wondering if the author did any research at all or just eye balled it.
To each his own I guess? Curious if anyone has read The Host as well. It's a bit less mary jane than Twilight.
