Ass hide- hide of a donkey, but can be joked about the other way around-------
This idea was based on the urban legend (which was found true) about a hanging corpse that was mistaken for a Halloween decoration, thus being left there in plain sight for days. So I thought about making this a series of comic strips with a shock and disturbing ending, yet humorous at the same time, with the 'hangman' being their first clue. That first panel looks ass though( drawing small was never my forte), but I'm satisfied with the rest. I also wanted to give the page a gritty, vintage look to match the comics during the 70's, only without the halftone dots. This is the first strip, so it's not that action packed just yet. Start light and work your way up. More comics, illustrations and character refs coming soon.

When I first saw the sign that said "Suicide Grove", it reminded me of a forest in Japan named Aokigahara(The Suicide Forest). You could do a comic based off that, only the victim was staged to look like a suicide.

So it begins! WOOT WOOT! So far, I have to say that I really enjoy this. A little shocking to see a dark turn like that at the end especially since you said that this was in the style of the teen mystery cartoons in the 70's. But then you also said that it would be darker toned. So yeah, I'm intrigued. Again, can't wait to see more.

I did mention MLC to be a darker toned, meddling kids series, but will have it's lighter, less morbid moments with humor. I'm trying to avoid heading into the full Scooby clone territory, and that takes a bit of time to handle.
