Description Watercolor paint and salt (texture) on 200 gsm watercolor paper.
Except from the background bubbles I'm happy with the result!

Hello, I'm ObsydianDreamer, here to give you a critique! Before I start, I'd just like to say that you're free to disregard anything I say - This is just my opinion on your piece. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

First of all, things I like:
You really made the watercolour work with this one. You have lovely textures (did you use salt?) and the soft colour gives the image a soothing and calming feel. I like how the purple tree stands out, and that the yellow windows create a nice contrast.

Now what you could improve:
Given that it's your own individual style and dream, picking what could be better is a bit difficult. Perhaps the only thing I can say is the background; while the texture of both the bubbles near the top and the colour ad salt wash near the bottom look good by themselves, they don't mesh together. If you did the image again, I'd suggest just picking one.

You have a lovely artistic style. Keep creating lovely artwork like this!

Thank you for a lovely critique and compliments
I used salt for texture and I wrote beneath the picture that if I could change my idea about the background I would, so I agree that they don't mesh together.Β

How can one use salt for texture?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

By adding salt on wet watercolor paint.Β When you scatter salt onto wet watercolor paint, the salt absorbs the water in the paint, pulling the paint across the paper into abstract patterns.

What a beautifully strange piece! I mean that in a good way, of course. Your use of salt is ingenious, and your colour choices are perfect.

Browsing pictures of fictional and real-life 'treehouses' is definitely a guilty pleasure for me ^^ There are some truly mindblowing ones that have already been built, and I'm sure you could find one just like you want, that already exists

Salt for texture, hmm? How intriguing, I'm guessing it's what created that foamy, spongelike texture in the background :3

All in all, a beautiful piece with a soft, dreamlike quality to it. Excellent work!

Oo, this is such a beautiful and serene piece! I love the color choices, since a unified palette with hints of surprises really gives a nice emotional atmosphere. The swirling of the branches and "anatomy" of the tree are great too, and they help to pull together an otherwise central composition. The circular design in the back is super interesting, and I'd love to see you keep playing with abstraction behind representation like that! Great work.
