Description Muizen (Mechelen), November 2nd 2015.

A TEE VT 11.5 runs its last miles on the old club layout of the MSCM De Pijl. Β The model railway club recently received the devastating news that they are being evicted from their clubhouse (owned by the NMBS/SNCB), meaning they will have to demolish their club's railway, a massive H0 lay-out on which they had been working since 1978...

Before this heart-breaking work is carried out, though, the club presented their ill-fated lay-out one last time, during their very last open door this weekend.

... or for any boy young of heart! XD

Oh, my heart pains - these TEE's actually once rode through my home station, but I never saw any of them... T_T Β (mostly because they stopped running the decade before I was born)

... which they were already doing. Β They've got two smaller modular lay-outs (one a two-rail, and one a three-rail one) which, thankfully will survive the move; while the two-rail lay-out is more or less finished, the three-rail one is very much a work in progress.

... Last year the model railway club at Schaarbeek was evicted as well - they "needed" the building for the new railway museum.

...

... and then they built a model railway in part of the new museum.

Go figure.

Why couldn't the model railway group find a new home and build a new layout there?

They've already found a new clubhouse, but unfortunately the size of the lay-out (and the fact it was built as a single piece) means that they will have to demolish it - it's way too complicated for them to take it with them.

For the Muizen group, it's the first time this has happened to them.

The Schaarbeek group, however, already had to move home some five times now.
