My mom's a ginger kid so she's got pasty white skin, too...I got her complexion, but not her freckles, so even if I do go outside, I don't tan :/ I just swap between various shades of white and burnt.
I hear ya on the AC though. I've been living in a 25-year-old apartment building for about 2 years now, and I only just found out the trick to my ancient AC unit... Before then, I would have to leave it off at night cuz I thought it would be too expensive to turn it on. It was so hot and sticky (yay Texas) that myself, my bed, and my cats would all be stuck to one another by morning.
