Description Tokota shown: Bahiya 1057

Story
That day, Bahiya wanted some time to herself to go exploring. Usually, she stayed with the pack and was treated like royalty, but sometimes she had to let her curiosity and sense of adventure loose. She padded quietly away from the rest of the pack, glancing over her shoulder to make sure no one spotted her leaving. She had seen something last hunting trip, but it was at the edge of the territory, and not many Tokos roamed that far out. The open plains and hills rolled before her, unbroken but for clumps of trees or jutting rock. Past the plains lay forests, gulleys, streams and waterfalls, and then the mountains, tall and impressive, towered in the distance. She made for the mountains, for that was where the place was that she wanted to go.
Soon, the Tokota entered the treeline. Here, the forest was thick, with trees, all pressing close to each others sides, their foliage blocking out much of the daylight. Bea's pawsteps were muted in the still silence of the forest and only a bird, disturbed from its slumbers, stirred now and then, taking flight in a flurry of wings and feathers before the approach of the large creature. The Tokota, however, had no real interest in the birds and they were quite safe, though they didn't know it. She had a destination in mind, and that was where she planned to go. Her heart pumped with excitement as the forest passed behind her. Slowly but surely, the forest became more rocky and the ground more steep as the trees became sparser. Here, as she crested a rise, she stood upon a rocky hilltop facing a wide and deep lake.
The sides of the rock were slick and black and smooth as a polished pearl, sliding steeply into the lake. She heard the cry of a hawk on the hunt and paused to fell the whip of the wind as it raced across the surface of the aquamarine. Hundreds of fish splashed and leapt in the water, leaving shimmering trails. It was all very tantalizing, but the Tokota turned her head and began to follow a small path up a steep incline. This lake, she knew, underneath the beauty of its glittering surface, was deadly. Once anyone slipped onto the slick rock, there were no footholds and no way back. The lake would swallow them after they had tired themselves out trying to keep afloat and they would feed the many fishes that swam here.
Passing the lake, the incline became steeper and steeper and several times dropped off completely and she had to leap across chasms and balance in precarious positions. It all didn't matter to her, for her goal was nearing. This piece of mountain was known as Fate's Needle and stretched to the clouds with only a very narrow path up, and sometimes no path at all. Despite her size, Bea was as nimble as a mountain goat and as stubborn as a boar, so she continued on her way. Thunder pealed and a bold of lightning flashed across the sky. She could feel the spray of the lake mixing with the wind as it picked up speed. She was nearly there! The sky began to grow dark, though shafts of evening sunlight still penetrated the thickening clouds. The sun was sinking to the east and Bea knew that she would be heading home in the dark. She shrugged it off and heaved herself up a narrow ledge. Her head spun as she saw the dizzying heights below her, but her heart pounded even louder in her ears. Not with fear, but with exhilaration. She was there! She was at the top of Fate's Needle! She stood and from such a height she could see all the lands of her pack's territory, and more. A thick mist lay below her, the path she had travelled obscured within.
This was it. She had done it and her pack members were going to be so jealous. Now all there was left to do was the climb down...

I am speechless. Not just that the drawing is breath taking, but that story is also amazing! You are skilled in writing as well, and that's amazing! I really love how you described the deadly lake, and the path to Fate's Needle. It is a truly stunning piece! Thank you!
