This is a very nice shot as it is. But I think if you had pinched that dead bud off it would have been even better.

No argument here. I'll abandon the shot rather than damage the plant. But as long as it's done carefully "deadheading" roses actually benefits them.

Same here. I'd rather have the right to say, "I don't alter the plant in any way, shape or form."

there's just so many features in this - instead of being focused on one thing, and the rest totally blurred, you've got shadows, a stronger depth of field and the light is really good!
