I've never drawn insects before, let alone bumblebees, but I was awake at three o'clock in the morning the other day with a severe pain in my head and I thought 'why not'. It took about 7 hours, and I'm not sure how it turned out, but it helped me stay out of the pain medication and the hospital so no matter how it looks, I think it was worth it. Hopefully it isn't too bad looking though.
Ballpoint pen on A4 paper, so the time it took was a bit excessive.

I love how much detail you've done here, SO much hairy bits, I couldn't have gathered so much patience in my entire life like you've done here... The 7 hour draw span is amazing, HOW?! hahah
This is super awesome, and it being you first try is even more jaw-dropping ^^ Just, how could you do it with only a ballpoint, did you sketch first or?

7 hours isn't the longest time I've spent drawing in one go, that's probably about 9. It's the joy of insomnia. That, and being too lazy to bother doing anything else. I think the last time I tried to draw any type of insect was about 9 or 10 years ago, and that was a cartoon type, so I'm glad it didn't turn out completely bad.
I did a very basic sort of sketch, just being a couple of lines and circles to give myself a rough idea of the proportions, but more of it was just freehand with the pen (which is why there are quite a few mistakes).
I'm doing a dragonfly at the moment, which isn't even fully planned out though I've done almost half of the body already. I like figuring it out as I go along sometimes. (picture below, ignoring the bad quality from a small phone and bad light)
