I've had this idea swimming around in my head for a few weeks and I finally drew it. Could be a companion piece to that old picture that I made back in June of the flying cat, The Landing in the Forest, or not....no idea
.This could be religious...or not. Since I'm not Christian, I don't believe in angels, but the idea of them is still pretty nice
.Or this could be just a mythical dog, off to jump into who knows what ^^. And the expression is done for a reason
.Also, it has no background for a reason...it makes the dog stand out more ^^. And I know the head is too big....deal with it xD. I can't fix it, so sorry. This isn't terrible for having only one reference of a TINY picture of some random white pointer jumping....I made it into a yellow lab because they're pretty fun to draw ^___^. No ref on the wings, obviously, you can tell xD;.
Prismacolor pencils on black paper that I found laying around in a closet xD. But, hey, it's not construction paper, so it's good enough quality. And sorry if the scan is bad...I tried

This is a great image, and I love your teique of drawing on black paper. It's novel and interesting to treat this concept with a dog!

Overall I think it came out well. Wondeful color. I think more than anything, the body looks a bit short, and the backlegs, quite long. ah well.
On the wings- just a note- the coverlets are on the top side of the wing, not the under, there's some fluffy feathers to cover the 'arm', but the distinc feathers should be on the other side. I only just realized this myself!

That is amazing! The way you've worked so many colors into the fur! I really feel like drawing something on colored paper now. I wonder if I ever /don't/ wanna try some cool thing that someone else has done.

This is cool, you don't see many flying labs. Thank goodness. ^^ Hehe
What I noticed? He seems to have a bit more longish white/lightish 'hair' on his muzzle/face than labs really do. It makes me blink, is all, and reminds me of a Brussels Griffon or wirehaired terrier. That's seriously it though, and I only notice because I work in a vet clinic and get to see labs all the time. They are popular out in my area.

This picture is actually making me cry. My dog is a black lab mix and used to look like the yellow lab when she was younger, just a different colour. Sadly, she's not going to last much longer and the angel wings reminded me of how little time she has in this world... Oh great, now I'm bawling.
This touched me. If you draw a picture of Katie and I would definatly buy a print if I had the heart. But it would pain me everytime I looked at it.

My entire life I've never had an animal that meant so much to me pass away. Sure, there were hampsters and germit crabs, but they didn't amount to me as much as Katie or my cat Misscat does. Katie will probably be the first to go since she's already pushing 11, but Misscat's not that far behind her and pushing 9. The thought of loosing both of them in the span of a few months or even a few years tears me to pieces.

Yes, the shoulders do seem to be a bit low... perhaps forced down by the positioning of the wings? He's also on the chubby side, but it grows on your after a while. *pokes the flab*
Now for the good stuff. You're a whiz at colored pencils, that's obvious. The lighting's very nice here, too.
You also did a great job with the dog's eyes. Animals are incapable of emotion complex, yet it's very clear here that our pooch is yearning for something... more.
One more suggestion: The dark gray of the wings doesn't combine well with the lab's amberish coat. Perhaps in the future you'd make the wings brown, or even ethereal? Just a suggestion.
Man, I feel bad about critiquing this piece so much. It's in all honesty a great piece, and the spirit of this piece is really brought out by the subtle details you've put on the dog.
